A friend has asked if I want to buy a 3-month old Sony KDL-46W2000 as she has split with her partner and no longer wants the tv. She said that they paid around £2000 for it originally. I said that I could get a brand new one for somewhere in the region of £1300 and the new range of Bravias is about to be released further pushing down the value of her tv. What do you guys think is a sensible offer for this set?

Yeah she is right you can buy that tv for about £1300.

Just to let you know you will need Sky HD to get the best out of that screen ( I have the 40" version, so I talk from experience ! )

I would personally pay about £800 for that TV 2nd hand, Its a cruel world out there ;) !

( just sold my 2 year old LG plasma, cost £1500 new, I sold it for £400 ! ouch ! )

Thanks Ross - I was thinking about £800 - £900 but didn't want to upset her with a low offer, hence my thread asking for a wider opinion. It's a cruel fact that second hand stuff drops significantly in value despite being "just like brand new".
