Does anyone know if this will ever be released on DVD?

Its an end of the world type movie that when it was shown in the US, disturbed a lot of people for being too realistic.
Got good reviews and stars Peter Fonda.
It was released the same year as Dr Strangelove, which probably overshadowed it.
Without giving too much away, the US accidently drop a a nuke on Russia and has to convince them they are not starting a 3rd world war
It was shown here on TV a long time ago

Anyone who doesn't know this brilliant movie have a look at the IMDb reviews http://us.imdb.com/Title?0058083 then go out and buy it.

I'm not sure what the reference to Squirrel God using DVD Soon that was made above relates to though

Not sure about that  but Garrett is right, I've used www.DVDSoon.com before and am starting to use them quite regularly now as they have some good prices. All orders so far received without a hitch but haven't had cause to contact customer services yet so can't comment on that aspect. DVD Box Office is cheaper for this particular title, but I've never used them so you might want to do a search on the forum for member comments :)

The link posted by Garrett is not the movie, it's the TV play starring Richard Dreyfuss. It's the movie that stars Henry Fonda. I don't know if it's available. However, I have a copy of the TV play and can report that it's excellent. As someone (sorry can't remember who) has already pointed out, Fail Safe was overshadowed by the virtually simultaneous release of Dr Strangelove, a good but inferior movie in my view.

I posted links for both versions but both links have gone down now for the places to buy the DVD’s but if ubik goes over to http://www.dvdpricecheck.co.uk and type in which of the two versions he want I’m sure it will come up. (I think Play was the cheapest one I have used,) for the TV version.
ubik if you like Fail-Safe you may like By Dawns Early Light which a lot of the members here like. Also I like the Bedford Incident which was out about the time of Fail-Safe about a US Destroyer tracking a Russian nuclear sub.:smashin:

That was ubik the original poster.:D

I quite liked the recent TV play version of Fail Safe that starred George Clooney , Harvey Keitel and others. It was originally broadcast live !
    Pretty cool!

Terrific movie. If you like this particular brand of Cold War paranoia thriller, try John Frankenheimer's excellent movies "Seven Days In May" R1 and "The Manchurian Candidate" R2, both made around the same era as "Failsafe". "Candidate" is knocking round for about £6.99 on the high street - Frank Sinatra's performance is a revelation.
