Is it possible to return satellite pro A100 laptop to factory settings ? does not seem to be mentioned in manual.None of the methods suggested online actually work - pressing f8,0,shift at same time as restart etc etc .... some lead to system restore .... but it does not work either

A laptop of that era would have a manufacturer specific restore system or disk. Microsoft didn't include a general windows one that manufacturers could customise until Windows 8 (previously they'd made a requirement to have one part of the process to get the little windows logo badges though).

I don't know what that is, bit an online search restricted to 2009 and earlier suggests Toshiba may have been using the 0 (nought) key in order to trigger their restore system, e.g.

If you've wiped or replaced the drive in the past then the recovery system will likely have gone with it and you'd have to settle for a plain windows install without any toshiba specific programs or customisations.

If you have upgraded to Windows 8 (or newer) then I seem to remember the older recovery systems sometimes got incorporated into the windows one so it's worth going into settings and see what options there are during the Reset process.
