Well done to Kimi for securing pole today. Vettel not sounding happy about it seemingly not going to 'plan' though. Hamilton getting as much out of the Merc as humanly possible. Bottas playing catch up all weekend

So what lap will they do a switcheroo at the front?

'Seb is faster than you'! :D:D

Didn't they recently let Kimi keep his position......or at least 'Kimi' kept his position ;) (which would be intriguing for tomorrow). I guess there's a number of options open to them if they want to appear fair but still get Vettel into first. Unless Merc can improve on race pace, I see it pretty much plain sailing for Ferrari with the speed and better traction they've shown. Oh for a shower or two.

Seb does have trouble racing the top drivers and himself it seems sometimes when not from the front , should of been a Ferrari one two here all day long :( but they got mugged by the less powerful Merc in this race . Big pick up by Merc and Lewis on this one .

That went by oh so quickly :smashin:. Poor old Seb didn't want Lewis to get by at any cost and (thankfully) cost him it did. Kimi by comparison played fair and lost only one inevitable position as a result. Great tactical racing from Merc, doing the best for Bottas and Hamilton at the same time. Great drive from Lewis and a well deserved victory.

The Tifosi are often lauded as being the most passionate fans. I just see them as a bunch of booing losers.

Big big win for Lewis and Merc on Ferarri home turf and it will hurt the team as much as the fans . Body blow for Ferrari here going into Singapore where Merc has ( historicity) struggled a real dent on Ferrari confidence that the Tiposi showed up in this result .

Brilliant race! Hamilton's race craft is just amazing.

One thing I wanted to ask was, when Vettel spun, he started moving forwards towards on coming traffic, what are the legalities of that? I thought you weren't supposed to move the wrong way on the circuit seeing as there could have been another incident. Just a thought I had.

One could argue he was getting out of the way of traffic. It was funny though seeing the following cars behind him and Lewis make it through the chicance two abreast with no issue.

Only caught the highlights, but that was a good race. I love it when Vettel makes a mistake, and all the better at the Ferrari home GP. That should’ve been a Ferrari win. Hamilton may have got the second, but who knows. Bottas really should’ve taken Max. If Lewis can take a Ferrari, then Bottas should’ve taken a Red Bull.
    Great drive by Hamilton.

I've been really liking Max as of late but yesterday he was back to his petulant childish best. He could have let Bottas go knowing he was already technically behind him and tried to use his tow to keep up and more importantly out of the 5 seconds he needed to stay ahead of Vettel, he even said it, he knew battling with Bottas was helping Vettel and he said he didn't care...what sort of attitude is that, especially for the team who work so hard for all the points they can get...

What a cracking race, tense all the way through. Love Vettels comments about not enough space, shame he didn't look left and see the car width that was there. Ultimately Vettels mistake was being so focussed on Kimi and having a look left he forgot about the Merc and it cost him. For a 4 time world champ he makes alot of unforced errors.

No denying MV skill in the car but he is a hard man/boy to like. Often petulant and a real entitlement attitude and yesterday put his tantrum above the points for the team. On previous laps he was weaving down the straight so I am not surprised he got a penality for move under braking.

Bottas should have been more aggressive with MV. Personally I would stick Ocon in his seat but they want harmony in the garage and I get that.

    Cracking race.

Got nothing against Max arguing his case vs Bottas. He's a racing driver, they rarely ever point the finger at themselves. But to say he doesn't care about Vettel taking that extra place is a kick in the teeth to team. I'm actually shocked this is the person Red Bull are backing ahead of Ricciardo. Speaking of which, how many mirrors has he cracked recently, his luck is awful.

Vettel's main mistake was at the first corner trying to overtake Kimi. His poor exit as a result allowed Lewis to get alongside at Turn 4.

Given how easily Kimi re-passed Lewis, Vettel could have let Hamilton go and done the same. Easier said than done when you're racing for a World Championship of course.

Yup fully agree on this as he should of been racing for the team and not himself at this point . Red Bull and Haas are level on points on constructors now and a less petulant Max could of helped the team here .

The commentators were basically saying as he’s nowhere in the drivers championship, it was just a bit of ego. Had he been in play for something then his behaviour might have been different. Thanks
With the grosjean disqualification, does that put them back ahead?
