F1 2014 British GP - Nico Rosberg Pole...Watch this video on YouTube
How many grid place penalties can Mclaren rack up this week ?
Arrgghh I'm driving home from Cornwall when this race is on.
Rule changes announced which are going to be the talk of this weekend. Following the survey it sounds like they're listening and acting
2015 British Grand Prix - FIA Press Information | Federation Internationale de l'Automobile
Good news for Honda, hopefully they can make use of it
There's also talk of a revised GP weekend with a one hour Saturday race replacing qualifying and deciding the grid for the race on Sunday. Not something I like the sound of.
Just a quick bit of back tracking news to the previous GP...
On the bight side then at least they appear to have identified and sorted it.
FP1 & 2 are on the BBC red button for anyone with the day off today.
Thanks, watching it now. Is it just me or have force India now got the nicest looking nose?
Agreed it's an awful idea. Also a one hour race is going to be a very different animal at certain tracks e.g Monza where the race only lasted 1h19m last year wheraeas Singapore almost always pushes the 2 hour limit. Plus when they want to limit costs how is this going to help (engine wear etc.) unless you also cut the main race length.
Yeah it looked good on the bits I saw of the Austria test and looked even better this morning when Ted was looking at it in 'development corner'.
Dire FP2 for Lewis. Hope he can turn it around tomorrow and give the British fans something to watch on Sunday.
LOL, who does Nico think he's kidding.....(remember, nearly half a second faster than Lewis in quali trim and race runs in FP2)
There you go
Well done Lewis
Never in doubt!
Wonder if they're going with the same track limit rule in the race. It irks me when a driver strays off the track but maintains his position because of it. Can see a couple of warnings then a penalty.
In the GP3 race the stewards have given a penalty to someone for going wide there and gaining an advantage (in this case overtaking). So I think they'll be pretty hot on it
EDIT: The guy did it again with no-one around him and got another 5-second penalty for it. Charlie Whiting has said to all teams there's a zero tolerance position on it with no warnings.
Love Jenson Button. Seeing him being interviewed by DC and having a good laugh even when things aren't going well at Maclaren.
Edit: Can things get any worse for this guy?!
Great start by Massa/Williams, screwed up by the SC.
Not at all messed up by the SC, there's some great racing going on with more to come
Two Williams at the front and let's hope they stay there. One of the only races this year that I'm still watching after the first five laps !
Team Orders then ? lol
What do you think has been screwed up?
Cracking race. Well done Lewis.
Best race of the season by far.
Agreed, great race and I don't think anyone would expect anything else from our weather.
It would have been nice to see Williams up on the podium but there's nothing better than seeing a driver win his home race, especially a British driver.
sensational pitstop from hamilton
Who is this guy on tv now ? He needs to watch the race. lol
Great result for the British GP and Hamilton fans. Not been more nervous watching a race this year. Wonder if Nico would have got second if the rain hadn't come, or would the Williams have managed their pace and stayed in front. We'll never know.
At last, a more interesting race than many of the others we have been subjected to this year! Awesome starts from the Williams boys & a pity for them that neither of them got on the podium.
Well done to Lewis - excellent call to come in when he did - shows the difference a single lap can make.
Finally, Alonso gets a point for McLaren - but he believes things are going to get much worse before they begin to get better I have read.
Some stiff words directed by Eddie Jordan & Ronnis Dennis - Eddie Jordan apparently stated that the McLaren Management needs to go & Ron Dennis retorted back that he is a "Village Idiot"!!
I read an article yesterday that Red Bull might be using Mercedes engines next year under a deal brokered by Aston Martin.
A good race for once. The first 20 laps were great, and then Williams had a panic/fell asleep and got their strategy wrong, just like in Austria last year. Hamilton's lap times around his first pit stop were great and his call to pit for inters was a masterpiece of timing.
I'm disappointed that Williams didn't do better, but it was great to see someone get in front of Mercedes and stay there on merit.
Ted Kravitz mentioned the Aston Martin rumours on his race notebook - he doesn't think it will go anywhere and in any event, Red Bull will be running Renault engines next year.
Prob been mentioned before but how about a random sprinkler system, would make it interesting
Even taking it seriously, it wouldn't work. Imagine the controversy if the leading driver had just gone past the pit lane and they came on. Random it might be, but best leave that to the heavens I think, otherwise its a Mario kart farce.
