. I do hate this break in the season as it stops the ( that we see ) momentum or indeed momentum shift . It's like a big ol fudgeing pause . I would much prefer a shorter season with a weekly race weekend and a longer off season for car development and testing with no upgrades in season .

i cant wait, it looks a lot closer this year in the cars however the points have swayed more in hamiltons favour. I dont know if there has been much development but can't wait for the 2nd half

The big question at the moment seems to be which car will Lance Stroll be driving?

Great qualifying with the rain on the last stint with a great final lap from Lewis . Fantastic to see Force India on the second row with all the troubles of the team in the last month
Can still only see a Seb win as that Ferrari is a beast with the engine upgrade but once again they fudged it with Kimi . Red Bull what were you doing ? Wrong set up and no juice , had a real chance here :(.

Yeah the damp or wet quali's never seem to let us down :smashin:. Looks like a dry day tomorrow so (like many) expecting the Ferrari to be stronger, but if anyone can turn that around, Hamilton can. As long as the Force India team mates are sensible.

    Can't wait.

The overtakes were pretty much candy-baby-rollover ones though. This race desperately needed a few showers today.

Clearly unless Mercedes can come up with an answer to the red engine, its Ferrari's championship to lose, even with Lewis's current lead advantage.

Apart from the intense start very dull race I thought. Good solid drive from Vettel the Ferrari clearly had the upper hand. That should follow to Monza as well.

I’ve thought this was Ferrari’s championship to lose all season. The car looks unstoppable now.

Total snoozefest after 1st lap. As soon as Hamilton lost the tow, it was set in stone for the top 3 cars. Nothing changes in F1 - another boring race, total procession.

Again another race where the fastest lap of the race was 5 seconds slower than fastest qualifying lap. The whole sport has become about Saturday qualifying and not about the Sunday race.

5 seconds of a difference is mental - all this protecting the tyres, protecting the engine, brakes etc - F1 is meant to be the pinnacle of Motorsport, pushing man and machine to the limits....instead it's about overtaking no one, turning the engines down in power/modes in the race. Pathetic.

    That's nothing new though .

And what s with all the halo bs at the moment! Yes the car hit the halo, but at that point it was beyond the driver. The car didn't even go over his head, the airbox camera is still in place

Unless I've missed it I can't understand why the stewards haven't said anything of Bottas punting the Williams.

They weren't really protecting tyres with the SS lasting two thirds of the race but agreed not much happened after lap one. It's meant to be the pinnacle of motorsport but is unfortunately far from it and the driver market shows it all too well.

I'd rather see it hit the halo than find out what would have happened if it weren't there. The halo did exactly what it was designed and implemented to do.

He got a 5sec penalty, which didn't affect his finishing position.

How far alongside Seb was Ocon ? I thought it strange he backed out at the end of the straight. Go for it, he's not going to find himself in that situation too many times.
