Eyesight & 3D TV + technology

Hey!

My prescription is -2.25 in one eye and +1.75 in the other! (Having a contact lense in my left (+1.75) eye doesn't improve my vision much at all but having one in my right eye brings it up to near perfect vision in that eye)

This sucks for 3D tv/cinema. All my mates and fam are amazed as the image comes right out the screen up to them and i'm left feeling slightly underwhelmed as the images rises out the TV about an inch whilst distorting.

I'm guessing this is because of my eye sight being one short sighted and the other long sighted.

Do you think technology with prevail to the point where having unequal eyesight in both eyes won't affect the quality of a 3D image? Pehaps the TV where no glasss are needed?

Interesting discussion?

I was wondering the same, not sure what my prescription is on my eyes but as akid imax 3d was very impressive the 3d pop affect was right infront of me.

However now some 10+yrs later i dont see it as well.

I thought it might be due to eye sight but wasnt sure until i saw shrek 3d with a friend of mine who has had laser eye treatment. He told me to watch out for the sky logo and see how far it comes out the screen.....I couldnt really see it. it pops out then kinda blurs and disappears.

The depth you get with 3dtvs looks awesome though and i have no problems seeing that.

So not only do you need a 1-2k 3d tv , 3d bluray player a 3d film, 3d glasses and possibly a 3d capable amp for hd sound you may need laser eye treatment to get the most of it :D

I'm not only widely divergent in vision (-3.25L, -8.50R), but I'm also astigmatic to differing degrees in both eyes. I have no problem with 3D and it looks fine, at least so long as my corrective lenses are in.

My wife literally can't see 3D at the cinema but at homw on a Samsung c750 she actually can. She has one good eye and one bad eye.

Hope that helps.

Go to a Curry's and check out a demo to see for yourself.

When I had my eyes lasered last year I deliberately had them done for monocular vison so the left eye is -1 the right eye 'normal' 3D isn't affected though I can many families having problems with 3D if they have one family member with a bad eye they'll either ahve the weear the glasses to see 2D or not watch at all.

Just out of interest, why would you have your eyes lasered for monocular vision?

To have the combination of good (better than 20:20) long distance sight combined with being able to work with computers etc (I'm in IT) without needing reading glasses, I will need them eventually but it gives me a few more years respite. At present I'm completely contact lens and glasses free, which makes a hell of a difference when travelling, loads of things I don't have to remember to bring etc.
