Not everyone's cup of tea, but this horror classic finally comes to DVD in October as a R1. This is the original, not the US release of the film called "The horror chamber of doctor Faustus".
DVDPacific has it for around £13-14

    It's a R0 (Criterion).

You're right, it's almost certainly will be R0 - I just wrote R1 as default without thinking. However, do you actually know this, or just making an educated guess?

I think you're right - most of them are R0 but some of the Japanese releases (particularly from Toho, eg Seven Samurai) are R1. Something to do with licensing rights.

Have this on VHS. Genuinely bizzarro! Will certainly be replacing it with a DVD copy.
