I have downloaded a group of .RAR files all named the same that make up one total file. If I want to extract them I have to rename each file each time it is extarcted so as not to overwrite the existing one.

Is there a piece of S/W that can do this automatically

    Thanks

If use WinRAR to extract the RAR's, it will automatically open the 1st one, then extract the rest in order, even if the file names look the same. (They actually have different extensions.)

All the file names are the same as well. i get an option to rename the file each time it is extracted. This is what I am trying to get around. Is there something that will do auto rename.

Which newsgroup and post did you get these from? If they all have the same name i.e.

    fred.smith.rar
    fred.smith.rar
    .
    .
    .
    fred.smith.rar

then it sounds like a bit of a pants post to me! :)

Or .. do you mean the file INSIDE the Rar's are all the same name? If so this *should* just be showing you the file name when all the rars are combined. Check and see if the file inside is bigger than the individual rar size. If it is a LOT bigger than the indivual size, then chances are that you are just not starting with the first rar file.

    Came from Newshosting

All files once renamed and joined worked perfectly, it was just a hassle to do it.
