I just added a Primare A30.2 (2ch power amp) for use for front channels with Primare Spa20. This power amp gives a 6db boost to the front channels compared with internal amplification in SPA20. Do I lower the fronts 6dB, boost the other channels 6dB or lower fronts 3dB/boost other ch 3dB? I guess keeping the fronts at 0db should give the best signal to noise ratio, and the sound is detailed and full of kick at higher listening levels, but I'm having trouble finding a comfortable lower listening level without loosing detals. This is far easier when lowering SPA20 output on fronts. As I can't perform any A/B testing of different settings, does anyone have the expertise to explain what the technically optimal setting is?
