I have been using a 3tb external hard disc to store mkv and m4v files for use on my pc with xbmc. However i may be looking to use the drive to connect to my TV. I have a Samsung LE46c 750 and the manual reads as though it can support both files but when i hook up the drive to my Tv the TV detects it but when i select video option it says there nothing there. What am I doing wrong? Any help?

I don't own that model, but when I connected an internal 3TB HDD (in a powered caddy) it didn't detect the drive.
It only seems to work with 2TB drives.
If you have a 2TB, I would try that as a starting point.
