HI after some more great advise please

i have media server on my pc wired into bt home hub 2
i have ps3 wired into same, as my bd/dvd collection is starting to fill my pc hard drive i was thinking about getting a Seagate 1tb external drive and conecting this to the hub.
I have a couple of questions.
should i still use pc to stream from external hdd then to ps3 or is there a better way to do this, sorry if i have missed something simple but the more i am reading the more confused i seem to get lol

the files will play when the external hard drive is connected via usb if the files are in ps3 formats such as avchd,mp4,m2ts etc

As touched-on above, it all depends on what format your files are in and what you want to achieve...

If your files are already in a PS3-playable format, then just connect your USB HDD (assuming it's FAT32 formatted).

If they're not, then you'll either need to convert them, or stream them via something like PS3 Media Server to transcode them into playable formats. Streaming obviously means you need your PC on...
