Hi everyone. I have a small but incredibly annoying problem. Before I restored my computer (Just recently), I could rename a file without editing the extension name. Now the extension is in the filename. For example, if I had an MPEG file named Video, The filename would be video.mpg, whereas before it would just be video, and the extension would be mpg, but I could only see thos if I pause the mouse over the file or right clicking.

I cant remember If I changed a setting or something to not do this, so if anyone can help please? It is really annoying.

    Thanks.

    To See All File Extensions
    1. On the Tools menu in My Computer or Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
    2. Click the View tab.
    3. Clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box.

    (from ms website)
