Hi,

I'm about to embark on an upgrade to my home cinema room. As part of this I will be moving the AV rack from the back to the front of the room. I've not checked yet, but I'm pretty sure the cables coming in from the SAT dish won't reach to the new locaiton of the rack.

How easy is it to extend these cables ?

How easy is it to extend these cables?
Very easy. All you need is some satellite grade cable (e.g. WF100), 2 F-connectors and 1 threaded connector. Double these for Sky+/Sky+HD.
Usually a single joint in the cable (although not technically ideal) should make very little difference.
These parts are available online, and from DIY stores and ready made up cables from places like Argos. Please do not be tempted to cut corners and use TV aerial cable - use proper double screened SAT cable only.
However if your current signal strength/quality is weak or marginal you may experience drop outs, especially in bad weather. In which case get your dish re-aligned and/or run new cables.
