everything can go wrong warranty is you versus the insurance company in a gamble... YES they will go wrong, PSU, Tuner boards Chassis can all fail even tho actual panel will be fine TADL are very very good with panels, no idea with plasma TV's but they offer cover. Its up to you mate............Fancy a wager?

I have just purchased a Panny 42PE30 from John Lewis, reason being they give you a FREE 5 Year On Site Parts and Labour warranty.

That is worth about £800 in itself!

had i purchased the 42pe30 from avsales it would have cost me the follwoing:

    Screen - £2256

    Cabinet Stand - £368

    5 Year Warranty - £389

    £ 3013.

However you can pick the same thing up from john lewis for £2994 deliverd free of charge, that is at there list price, of course you can bargain with them

very true but as with all bricks and mortar retailers (in fact all retailers) you can barter...daft question but if you are an AV Sales Director and dont work for JL who do you work for? seems odd to promote the competition on a public forum.

i work for an independent company based in manchester, we no longer do AV hardware, only accessories, reason being we could not compete with all the big stores.

I purchased my screen from John lewis, of course after shopping around. Only the screen , cabinet from somewhere else.Becuase i am in the trade i know what the trade price is of the panasonic 42PE30 and i can tell you that a lot of these companies are selling at a loss, and just working on retro discount and settlemnet disocunts.

I can say its true, becasue i am very good friends with a big panasonic dealer ! !

its pretty simple if you want to belive me,

if the trade price is for eg £2700.00

and you get a retro discount at the end of the month if you sell 50 units of 5% per unit

and then a settlement disocunt of 2%

that autmatically knocks 7% of the trade price which brings your cost down to £2511.

You will then work your margin from this price knowing that your going to sell 50 units that month.

Also hitting the target would also give a few % more off the price, so when you think your buying a plasma for £2500 , you proabaly think the companies making £500 profit from you . There now, there only working on maximum £100.

The rest is made from extras, cables, warranty, installation etc etc
