I would welcome some advice. I've just bought my first plasma (the PW6) and am unsure as to whether I should take out the extended warranty.

Lets face it theyre not cheap, but as I have no experience of plasmas, I dont know whether this would be a good idea as theres a good chance of a fault developing within 3 or 4 years, or are they a rip off like most other extended warranties for dishwashers, washing machines etc?

    depends.
Some companies charge a large amount of money and literally extend the warranty.
Some will include accidental (Customer fault) aswell normally including the first year.
SOme will physically send out their own engineers to try and solve the problem or pick up the item to be looked at, and even re-tune if necescery.
Where I work they do all this, and more....
Thats why it sometimes costs more from "Proper" shops.
