Well first off i fancy this
    http://www.johnlewis.com/stores/mul...=16902&str=131&Configurator=0&trsid=2440&m=-1

    It includes five year cover.
I can however get it from elsewhere on the net for £2079 + £59 Delivery.Without cover
Also at Currys for £2300 without cover.

Is the cover worth the extra.

I also found a Panasonic 37" Plasma in Comet for £2400 Ex Display Model.
    And
Phillips 32" £1700 Ex Display model.
Are either of the above worth trying.

I don't think that anyone can answer this for you as its all about peace of mind.
If youre ok with spending £2k with a 1 yr warranty then go for it! Many people have and are quite happy too.

However, if for an extra £162 you can get an extra 4 yrs cover plus good customer service should anything go wrong.....

....I know which I would choose!!!

As for ex dem plasmas in a high street store? :nono: :nono:

I'm also after one of these babys after finding out the screen size is nearly as big as a 36"CRT !!
I'm personally going to wait for the 5000 which will be coming to this country in January. I would also like a 5 year warranty but you have to weigh the cost of cover against the chances of something going wrong, any cover over 600, 700 pounds wouldn't be worth it IMHO.

a full guarantee for 3yrs @ £600 is what i'd expect to pay and would you want to buy another one your self if you spilt something on it etc....
£600 now or £2000+ when it happens.
some people don't even take them on £4000 sets, we'll see them crying in our stores very soon.

Jed why not get the best of both worlds. John Lewis will do a price match with other retailers on the price of the plasma and still give you the free 5 year warranty.
Give them a call but be prepared to be persistent and you may find that they will match the on-line price as well.
Lookup other threads for JL, as this seems to be the chosen route for a lot of forum memebers.

    Hope this helps ;)
