With the Panasonic EH60D (or similar) I have a few queries on the operation of the Ext Link being controlled by a Sky Box

    1) Does it stop as well as start recordings

    2) I presume whatever is being recorded is not automatically named, as the recorder doesnt know what channel the Sky box is tuned to?

    3) Once Ext Link is pressed and the recorder is in standby, is it possible to switch the recorder on and watch eg a DVD or the DVB channels?

    4) If recording to HDD, do widescreen movies keep their format?

    5) Is there no way the recorder can control the SKy box, as Panasonic video recorders used to do via the scart lead?

    Thanks

I guess one way round these issues would be to use Guideplus to program the recorder and autoview to program the Skybox. You would then not need to use Ext Link.

This would not be too fiddly and would (I think) ensure that the recording is automatically titled
