Explosion at Foxconn's Chengdu factory may delay iPad lines

Well-known Member
There was a fire and explosion earlier today at Foxconn's Chengdu factory in one of the buildings dedicated to the iPad 2 production line.

Unfortunately two workers died and the explosion caused injuries to 16 other employees.

Chengdu is one of the Foxconn sites that only recently started producing the iPad, having only started November last year, but its lines are said to be able to produce 300,000 units per month, so this may cause shortages.

According to a Foxconn statement at the time of it's inauguration, the Chengdu line was created to address worker morale and mental health by letting workers stay closer to their families instead of them having to move to the main production line in Shenzhen, ~ 840 miles away.
