Explorer Problem

Hi

I have a strange problem on my computer running WinME.

If I am connected to the net, whenever I try to go into windows explorer or my computer, it crashes - not the whole system, just the explorer or my computer window - and all the icons disappear on the bottom right of the desktop and only a few reappear.

But If I am not connected to the net I do not have this trouble at all.

Any ideas anyone what could be causing this?

Thanks
Greg

I have a good virus software running and its not found anything, also I ran a spyware killer software the other day and that didn't cure the problem either.

i've seen this problem before

and i think it's a common problem with Win me.

Microsoft no longer support this operating system but you could try search their site for a fix.

could try a google groups search as well to see how many other users have the same problem

Thanks for the reply Depsi.

I will have a look on the microsoft site.

Also they do support Win ME still and Win98 and will continue to do so until 30/6/06 for downloads, fixes etc.

Thanks

Also just found out it, if I am just connected to the net without IE open, explorer and my computer work fine without crashing, but when IE is open then it crashes.

Did you sort this problem out as my mate seems to have the same happening on his computer ?

Yes I did. It involved me buying a new computer with XP on it.

Although the above problem wasn't the reason for me buying the computer!! Needed upgrading anyway
