I am looking for a receiver and have been quite impressed by the Yamaha RXV800RDS. I was about to buy, but then I notice that both unbeatable.co.uk and empiredirect.co.uk, both sell the 1000RDS for less. Can anyone think of any reason for this.

I have looked at Yamahas web site and the 1000RDS seems to be almost identical except for a few extra connectors and a learning remote. RSP of 799.95 and 800RDS has RSP of 649.95.

Both the previously mentioned sites are selling the 1000RDS for under 400.00!! Is it a better receiver, or have I missed something here?

The 1000 replaces the 995 which was not available in Europe, it has 6.1 decoding and a pre-out for the center rear (to connect via external mono-block/1-channel power amp).
Though the 800 claims to have 6.1 decoding it is only a 5.1 amp, i.e. 5 internal amplifiers and it does not have a pre-out.

No idea why the 1000 should be cheaper, but at GPB400 it looks like a bargain to me.
