2's my favourite too, although I love both the others as well.

Army of Darkness is probably the funniest IMO and Evil Dead the scariest but 2 is the perfect balance and what a performance by Bruce!

    All classic

Please, you must buy The Evil Dead Trilogy at once, and sit through all three films and report back :lesson:
honestly Razor they are simply outstandingly silly, horrific, bloody with eye poping fun, a must for any collection :smashin:

I was too young to watch them when they were released

I will hunt them down and watch them on your recomendation. BTW I watched Dawn of the Dead again last night after seeing your thread on Land of the Dead. A good movie, great pic quality. You certainly love your horror

I do love horror and westerns most of all, quite worring for my beloved   think it's to do with being a child when the original video nasties were out
Dawn of the Dead is a work of a genius :smashin:
but as for the Evil Dead trilogy, (espec. 1 n 2) must be watched in complete darkness with the lights off
horror really does not come much better

I know its old and low budget but my best horror experiance was the exorcist at Licester Square London at 1 am. A great movie once you get past the poor sp fx.

I have seen it 4 times in the cinema and everyone who came with me was scared sh*tless. Everyone who has seen it on a small screen at home during the day say its pants.

    2 for me.
1 is brilliant and sets up the story well but 2 is so much better with Bruce's little quips especially.

3 is a romp and i found it hillarious but i'm sticking with 2 overall.

i like the first one the most. i'm not actually that keen on the 2nd movie for a couple of reasons. 1 - they felt the need to waste quite a bit of time retelling the original evil dead movie at the start and 2 - the annoying laughing animals scene really does my head in, but of course it is the movie where the Ash character was really born properly, so its obviously a popular choice.

oh and i have the much coveted "book of the dead" region 2 dvd of the original evil dead :smashin: one of my nicest pieces.

Eviljohn2s favourite is probably Army of Darkness because it's the most fun. The Directors Cut is crap though. :)

2, Bruce is hilarious when he gets the chainsaw.

I was one of the idiots that decided one day on impulse to buy all 3 separately (1-R2, 2 and 3-R1), then a month later they released the box set :(

For me,it has to be the original!ED is a horror with comic elements,whereas(IMHO)2 and 3 are just black comedies. That statement isn't intended to get anyone's back up,or incite flaming, just the way I see it.

    1 surely.

As good as 2 and 3 were, they were not what I call proper horror - it all became a big joke. The first had humorous moments, but they were incidental to the horror of it all, whereas the subsequent instalments were comedies with gore.

Spooky. I started my post and then needed to let the dog out. By the time I got back, you'd said exactly the same thing I was thinking.

Totally agree with the last two posters. I almost walked out of the Cinema when I went to see part II all those years ago. The original is an absolute classic horror and they followed it up by something that was pure slapstick. I was livid at the time. However I have mellowed since and do enjoy parts II and III very much but just not as sequels to the original.

nothing idiotic about that mate  i have no desire to own the boxset, it's really cheap looking and i'd much rather own special editions of all the movies.

I watched Evil Dead II again last night with a couple of the lads after the boozer  Mmmm :smashin:
The scene that always gets me is the eye popping scene, which is pure brilliance :smashin: :smashin:
also it was the lady under the floorboards that gave me the most nightmares as a youngster

here's another quick question; which army of darkness ending do you prefer? the shop smart ending or the apocalyptic ending?

i prefer the shop smart one because it feels more like it fits in with the theme of the movies, and of course it opens up the opportunity for an evil dead 4

Number 2, obviously was going to be the most popular answer.

Keeps the original setting of the first one, but reworks it with a much bigger budget and throws in a nice helping of comedy :smoke:

2 for me, but tbh it's been a few years since I saw them.

I seem to remember that the 3rd was called The Medieval Dead. Did they change the name? Oh, and how many of you are old enough to spot the reference to The Day The Earth Stood Still.

You have to buy the "Evil Dead Trilogy" R2 boxset, and the R3 release of "Army of Darkness" (extra nudity) if you don't want to miss out an any of the evil.

review with screen grab of R3 extra nudity
    The Evil Dead Trilogy
