Seen this is released tomorrow, anyone know which versions of the films it will include?
New disc art, but exactly the same discs that were already available, (Evil Dead 2 being the remastered edition).
Does that mean Army of darkness will be the theatrical version only?
Steelbook arrived this morning - havent had a chance to watch yet
So just for confirmation, the 3 discs are same as the 3 separate UK releases ? I just noticed the first 2 are in the 3 for £17 but AOD is £6.83 so would make the trilogy cheaper.
I'd certainly consider importing this for part 3:
Amazon.fr - Evil Dead 3 : L'armée des ténèbres [Blu-ray] - Bruce Campbell, Embeth Davidtz, Marcus Gilbert, Ian Abercrombie, Bridget Fonda, Sam Raimi : DVD & Blu-ray
The US & UK versions of part 1 are similar quality (I believe) but the UK one only has the 1.85:1 version. US version not expensive:
Amazon.co.uk: Buying Choices: Evil Dead [Blu-ray] [US Import]
Part 2, the UK version is great.
Evil Dead 2 Special Edition [Blu-ray]: Amazon.co.uk: Bruce Campbell, Danny Hicks, Sarah Berry, Kassie Wesley, Theodore Raimi, Denise Bixler, Richard Domeier, John Peaks, Lou Hancock, Sid Abrams, Sam Raimi, Robert Tapert: DVD & Blu-ray
Double check on all of the above, as my memory can be wonky, and it's been a while.
I suppose it depends how big a fan you are, but that's still 3 great films for c.£30.
I am not paying those prices for any film but was hoping getting the trilogy was a good way to get them. Is part 2 in the trilogy same as the separate part 2?
Not bothered about 4:3 version of ED I.
I see the trilogy has gone down £2 since last night.
I've just seen this is currently £9.99 @ amazon.co.uk. I am just about to order it. Am I right in thinking this contains the (decent) Sony release of the first film, the best version of the 2nd, and a half decent version of the third?
Did you order it? How is number 3?
Since the TV version has started, I want to finally get these films without paying a lot of money.
The Shout edition of Army of Darkness is superb. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
That the one that includes every version of Army Of Darkness isn't it? Also is there any region coding on it?
Yes, region locked to A.
Sis how bad/good is AOD in the trilogy? I have seen it for £8.99 before.
I couldn't tell you at the moment, but there is a comparison up on caps-a-holic featuring the new Shout release.
It definitely looks better and has the international cut, but for me it's all a mute point as a) I don't have a region A player and b) the days of importing and paying more than a tenner or so for a film are long behind me... especially when the trilogy can be had so cheaply.
I was hoping someone would have seen the UK one in motion.
I am not paying more for the last film than the trilogy combined (possibly twice as much).
Did the UK VHS or Freeview TV have the Directors Cut? I remember seeing the different ending but have never had AOD on DVD.
I suppose the International/Theatrical has the best ending as the TV series has started.
Im after this boxset now too after starting to watch the superb tv show, I've read that the shout version of AOD has issues with the different versions, bit of a mess-up by Scream factory? Im sure that the version in the uk boxset contains theatrical and directors cut...
Th Shout version has 2 seconds missing with the Theatrical and International cuts.
The trilogy has the Interational Cut in HD and port of the Directors Cut DVD in SD in the extras.
Think i'll get the Trilogy , £10 seems a bargain
£9.34 today from Rakuten with super4 code. Plus get £2.50 back in points.
The Entertainment Store | Rakuten.co.uk Shopping: Evil Dead Trilogy Boxset (Blu-Ray)
I had an amazon credit and prime so its just arrived, nice with slip so an evil dead weekend beckons
I went with Rakuten so hoping for a slip too.
I watched the remake last night. Nice amount of gore but all the way through, I wanted to watch the original. They didn't need to remake it.
Nice one i didn't expect a slip so an added bonus, yea the remake is a gut wrencher, lots of gore, and i did enjoy it, but love these originals, especially ED2
I only have ED1 and 2 on very old DVDs. I haven't seen AOD for at least 10 years or whenever it was last on BBC1 or BBC2.
yea same here, i had the Steelbooks but didn't open them and have since sold all of them on
Entertainment store version finally came through this morning. This version will do for me. I no longer need to get the best blu ray version of everything especially when they end up considerably more money.
