evesham decimator...is it worth much now considering new technology?

Active Member
I own the pc below and am thinking of upgrading but can anyone let me know if it is really worth it yet and would I honestly get much better performance with something else?
If you think so I suppose it would need to be an Athlon X2 or an Intel Core Duo?
Would I get much for mine in the current market?

I know I don't ask much do I ;)

Thanks in anticipation :)

In case you aren't familiar with Evesham products here's the rough spec..

Intel pentium 4 processor 3.73ghz extreme edition-2mb cache
800mhz supporting Hyper-Threading technology
microsoft windows xp media centre edition 2005
Msi925xe chipset pci express mother board
1gb dual channel DDR2 RAm 533MHz (2x512mb)
500gb (2x250GB) raided 0 7200rpm SATA HArd drive with *mb buffer
256MB DDR ATI Radeon X850 XT PCI-express graphics with tv-out and DVI
16x dvd-rom
multi format dula layer dvd-rw (16x)/cd-rw (x48) drive
sound blaster audigy 2 zS including firewire (oem)

what do you need the pc for - gaming?

If so, an upgrade might be useful. If it plays the games you need now - then keep it a while longer.

however, really if upgrading now go down the conroe route. keep you cd/dvd and hard drives etc, also could manage with you ram for now. (but 2gb of ram would be better)

you would need a new motherboard and cpu to get you going. The E6300 conroe is the base chip in the range but is a very good chip with great overclocking potential.

Also the gfx card would need to be updated also. Lots of options in this area dependant on budget.
