No problems. With regards to your question, I think you'll find there are not many Evesham owners here as it isn't a hugely popular brand. If I were you I'd look at some of the cheaper 37" offerings from Toshiba and Samsung, they produce some very respectable models around £500.

I wouldn't get hung up on 1080p to be honest. IMO there is very little difference between an Xbox 360 running 720p component or VGA to it running 1080p over HDMI - in fact I'd go as far as to say I noticed no difference whatsoever from my viewing distance of 8 feet or so.

It's not what it does, its how it does it and if picture quality is lacking then it doesnt matter what resolution you are watching it in. I'd much rather have a good picture quality 720 TV than a crappy 1080.

I'd say that after bumping the thread on a very active forum with no responses about the model that you can assume it's not being recommended.

    Edit:
After being so persistant with your bumping I'd have you would have done a search on this forum for 'Evesham' at least. There is already a thread about this model. :suicide:

I have a 42" Evesham something or other. Picture quality through 360 is great (I input through VGA for an exact resolution match). I can notice no difference in quality between my £600 Evesham and my mates £2500 Toshiba, although I am in no way claiming it is better than the toshiva, I merely state that the extra £1900 in this case does not result in any noticeable difference.

Bite the bullet, although I am sure some of the AV snobs will correct me on this.

What is it with the forum police??!! he can post as many times as he wants on a topic he needs an answer to, his question is even less likely to be answered if he lets it slip off the front page.

Good choice my man .. Great price too! :smashin:

Good quality build for the price .. even if the remote is not the most ergonomic .. it works and is SKY compatible.

I reckon these are Tatung sourced units.

Okay not a great name from the past .. but excellent value for money now.

My 32" VX SD was excellent straight out of the box .. no fiddles .. it just worked.

No dead or stuck pixels either.

Bear in mind that Evesham have gone into liquidation, and they have reneged on warranties previously sold on their products. I know, I am a victim of this and am stuck with a HDTV that has got problems that I will now have to pay to get fixed.

Their aftersales are terrible now, since they went belly up.

I would avoid them mate to be honest.

It's a shame as I have one of their sets and it's served us well over the past couple of years, but when I did discover a gripe with the set getting the issue resolved has been a nightmare.

Your better off buying elsewhere and go for a real brand, as such.

I purchased the 42" Tx model in October 07.

The sales service was very good and I'm happy with the tv.

Don't rely on any service backup if something goes wrong with the tv as it is absolute [email protected].

The tv doesn't switch off but instead goes on standby. I switch mine off last night at the wall socket while it was on which basically simulates a power cut. When I switched it on the tv was dead with power going into it but no stand by light.

I phoned today and was told that the guarentee doesn't cover power cuts. I was told to claim my home insurance. They don't have anyone to cover service in Glasgow (the Uk's 3rd largest city).

The technician even hung up on my wife.

Evesham get you back up service sorted!!:lease:

I've had the 37'' 1080 VX since almost launch (Nov 07) - got it with the free up-scaling DVD player & 2 yr warranty. I would summarise as :

    GOOD POINTS

    Excellent colour performance
    PS3/360 & blu-ray movies look proper top-notch

    SO-SO

Sound performance ok but thats all

    BAD POINTS

Blacks are very poor - well you don't get blacks as such, more greys really!
You have to toggle the various AV inputs (9 in total) to reach your required source - proper infuriating!
    Very odd shaped remote!

If you play a lot of PS3/360 and/or watch a lot of blu-rays, this is a good buy for the money but if not, I'd look elsewhere.

Can someone pls tell me when Evesham went bust!?

One of the reasons I bought this set was for the 2 yr warranty but I suppose thats gone down the cr*pper now?

    Cheers.

Yeah, warranty is completely null and void.

My 3 year warranty on my last set is down the pan.

I will never again try and cut corners.

Buying branded goods from now on, from reputable dealers even if the cost is higher.
