    I emailed Panasonic some time ago asking for the reason why we are so far behind Japan, US, NZ and Australia in getting the PT-AE300E projector.

    Their answer was that Japan get first production and that as the USA, Australia and New Zealand use only component inputs like Japan, they are next.

    They then went on to say that for Europe, they have included a SCART connector to make connection easier.

    Further they say that means that the PT-AE300E is substantially different and so is later than the model used in other regions.

    I was thinking of getting one from Japan but now I'm not so sure!

    I got mine from Japan at the beginning of Jan, so I've got a couple of extra months out of it.

    At this point it's probably worth waiting for the Euro version, unless it turns out to be crazy expensive or something :)

    Be interesting to see what else, if anything, has changed apart from the scart :}

    Following on from the price comment, a UK dealer has confirmed to me they will be selling the AE300 for £1,400 + VAT plus or minus £50 when they start receiving them late March/early April. That makes it about £500 cheaper than the HS-10 which has swung it for me :smashin:

    bit steep for me to be honest...

    £1650 inc VAT....

    the Sanyo Z1 is less than £1000 + VAT ... big gap... i want screendoor to not be a problem for me so may be forced to go this way... but i was hoping for them to be closer in price.. the Z1 and 300u are similar projectors aren't they....

    is this the going rate for them online or at a shop...?

    What with all the talk of the 100u being unreliable i'll be a bit annoyed if the 300u is similar having paid more over the Z1... its only $200 more than the Z1 in US isn't it??

    £1400 sovs - sounds like a good price! Don't suppose you'd reveal the dealers' name/contact details would you?
    Cheers

    In the April edition of What Video magazine, the indicated price of the AE300 is £2000 (and £1500 for the AE200). I presume this includes VAT - must check tonight. The launch date in the UK is indicated as end of March and there will a review in the May edition of the magazine.

    With the price of importing from PriceJapan, including VAT at about £1500 for the AE300 there is still a big gap to the UK list price. Hopefully initial discounts in the UK will be available to bring the price down to around the £1500 + VAT indicated earlier in this post.
