Whilst there is significant uncertainty at present given where we are (or aren't) with Brexit, there is a possibility we will still be in the EU in May and thus have the right to vote in the European Elections. If so, who will you vote for and why?

I feel I haven't been listened to by the elite, so I'll be voting for the 'I'd like to watch the earth burn' Party (UKIP/EDP/BNP) as I'm so desperate.

For me, I think it will be a choice between the SNP and Lib Dems as I think it will be important to send representatives that will be constructive. The same could probably be said for most Conservatives and Labour MEPs but, as both parties are deeply divided at present, its a little more uncertain IMHO.

I think it's important to send representatives that represent the UK and our feelings for the EU.

Anyone who will tell the EU to get ****ed.

Depends if my Tory MEP is a leaver or remainer I suppose...

I'm not going to vote as democracy is dead, or so I've heard and read?

Or perhaps it was that if I get to vote then democracy dies?

I think I'll wait and see what the Russian twitter and facebook bots recommend and follow that. They sure know how to tell me to stick it to the elites I don't care for so that the ones I do care for can get even richer and more elite.

Has to be The Brexit Party because of this absolute mad man!!

Only 4 here in North Wales. Labour / UKIP / Conservative & Plaid Cymru.
Wales relies heavily on trade with the EU so documents suggest, shocker when the people of Wales voted out. Punishment for leaving being dished out already. Council tax up again in North Wales, place still falling apart, bureaucrats still in high places, same old same old.

I think the answer to this is why the government is trying to avoid the UK having to stand in the elections - because the results will be too embarrassing for them.

Cheers,

Nigel

I think there is certainly some truth in the fact it is in the Government's interests that we do not partake in the 2019 EU elections. Whilst this sub-forum is leave heavy, for obvious reasons, it is likely the actual result would also be far right/Brexit parties are likely to do well in any actual election. It is clearly not a great idea to give such parties oxygen.

Voting in the EU is not as easy as the UK, that is working out where to put the X. There are too many faction and alliances that control the EU and a vote along party lines for the UK may find you actually supporting something different in the EU.

Once again I need to look to see where my MEP is now and what the other offer in where they are in alliances. Problem is as well, a lone voice in that cacophony of rule makers and rule benders is often no use. Meaning a sticking it to the man, the man don't notice.

Voted other as I have no clue at the moment.

Edit. The abstain/spoil paper option. There is no real benefit apart from personal feeling in this. There is no meaningful count of spoilt paper (a mention at the end of the count when returning officers mention the number) and until voting is made compulsory, and "none of the above an option", it will never mean a thing. And I have spoiled voting papers in the past.

Yep. Better the electorate's view is suppressed.

It's odd but you used to describe them as "extremist" as wanting to leave the EU is "extremist."

Oh, you'd vote SNP.

Not the first time you said you would and a party you thought would be finished after their vote to leave.

Also, you put the poll on here. Not like the result?

Thinking about it, I have no idea who my MEP is or how they have voted and acted.
Taking this as a reminder to check them out.

Edit. OK, four MEP and four different alliances despite coming from UK party lines.
Wales - 4 MEPs
Sorry for the Wiki links but...
Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy - Wikipedia
Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats - Wikipedia
European Conservatives and Reformists - Wikipedia
Greens–European Free Alliance - Wikipedia

Now I have to work through that and see proposed to see where the X goes.

How can people vote UKIP now our Nige is no longer there and what its become since he left? Might aswell just vote BNP.

Love it, Conservatives, "we didn't deliver on Brexit, now vote for us." Time for someone who will.

The EU would probably appreciate telling a different group of politicians where to go just to make a change.

I so hope they do over giving the UK a delay.

What do you mean by that this sub-forum is leave heavy for obvious reasons? What are those obvious reasons to you?

I could never vote for what has taken over UKIP, and never ever for the likes of the BNP. As much as I dislike the EU as an organisation that is just a step too far. I'd rather vote UK Liberal Democrates then any such party, and I include what labour has become in that category.
