Ronimo are bringing a sequel to their WiiWare game Swords and Soldiers to Wii U! Anyone played the original? It looked good in videos, but tower defense games have never been my cup of tea. I might pick this up if it gets good reviews.

I've scoured the net for a bit more info in case anyone's interested.

They've also announced a HD rerelease of the original on Wii U too.

Feature list from their website:
  • The classic Swords & Soldiers experience.
  • Playable with custom touch scheme on GamePad.
  • Playable with Wii remote on TV.
  • Multiplayer mode combining gamepad and TV.
  • High res HD graphics compared to SD Wii release.
  • Expected release end of April / Early May.
  • Low TBA introduction price.

And more details!

- side-scrolling strategy adventure
- you don't control the movement of your character
- the player has control over building towers, adding units and upgrades, and using magical spells
- your goal is to get to the other side of the playing field and destroy the enemy tower
- each faction has certain ways of making money and mana
- three factions in total, two revealed thus far
- Vikings return from the original
- Demon faction is new
- Vikings still have the regular berserker units in addition to magic spells (lightning, ice and heal)
- build towers to bring in mana
- Viking Sheepriders are old men riding sheep
- they can hurt multiple enemies at the same time
- Super Magic Spell replaces the Thor Hammer from the original
- Ol' Larry lets you use three uppercuts across game field
- the three separate campaign approach from the original has been done away with
- now you follow the Viking Boss Red Beard's journey across a trial of levels
- Red Beard's grandfather pops up, but he enjoys time relaxing with golf nowadays
- the demons attack Red Beard's grandfather and you have to fight back
- utilize club wielding and support troops
- one level will have you walk with your moving fortress
- GamePad offers two control schemes
- one uses sticks and buttons
- use the ZL or ZR button to rotate through units and spells
- you can use the left stick for easy access
- also a touch screen mode for all input
- you can use a combination of both modes, if you please
- the local Skirmish mode lets you use Wiimote and and Wii U Pro Controller

I bought the HD rerelease and played the sequel at EGX, both are really good if you like tower defense/strategy games. It's great fun in two-player too.
