    Hello all,

I wonder if this would work....

If I bought a 2.5" caddy with an eSata port and added an SSD drive, would I be able to install Windows 7 directly to it and boot off of it?

I tried this with USB before and it was a total nightmare, some people said it was possible but honestly it was not easy to get the OS on - even when I finally did it kept blue screening.

I'm thinking the eSata port might not have the limits of USB in that sense, windows will see it and allow the install maybe as it doesnt know the difference between that and an internal drive?

As far as Windows 7 is concerned the eSATA drive is no different to an internal SATA drive so yes you can boot from it.
