Hi

Hoping someone can help...

I have created a movie in Movie Maker and am attempting to burn it to disc using free software "DVD Flick" but an error has occurred and im unable to understand the error log to know what the problem has been.
NB: I have also attempted to burn using an external DVD burner but the same error occurs.

I succesfully burnt a DVD a few months back using "DVD Flick".

Im pasting the full error below, hoping someone with more knowlege can interpret for me! :)

Many thanks!

An error occured during the encoding process.

Looks like its failing on merging the converted output into an mpg, why is unclear to me.

You could use ConvertXtoDVD the trial version lasts for 7 days, if its just a one off job.

Tends to suggest that
a) it is attempting to write this file
b) and it can't.
Why?
Possibly for example
  • file already exists and is locked (eg is already open in another app, or was and was nver properly closed)
  • insufficient space
  • file exists but is in a folder with restricted access
  • etc.
I don't know this app - but can you set a different output path and/or filename?

UPDATE: Nigel - changing the name fixed it! Thanks!
However now i have another problem... when i play the disc, the photos i took in portrait view and subsequently changed to landscape view before creating the windows movie maker (WMM) file, have remained in portrait on the DVD! ..
I have checked and the WMM video is OK... they are all the correct way up... but when the video was created the video has turned them back round...
any advice on that appreciated!

That will be something that is app specific (i.e. Movie Maker) and it's not something I use. It may be possible to do what you want with MM, or perhaps for this particular purpose, you need to consider a different editor to create a slideshow video sequence.

Thanks again. I'll look into it and if need be create a new thread!
