...and why not?
Eric Cantona announces bid for French presidency - Telegraph
He should never have quit football, he just seems bored in his later years now. Managing the NY Cosmo's and going for French Presidency, legend.
You wouldn't want to be stood near him if he loses.
It's a publicity stunt according to Sky. He said he wanted to draw attention to the problem of housing for the poor.
Perhaps we should all announce our own bids for the French Presidency..........that ought to get some publicity!!
Ronald Reagan was most famous for acting with a chimp before he became president...! George Dubya was a drunken fu>>wit who stopped drinking and found Jesus before he became president...! If these 2 chaps can manage it in America I'm sure Eric Cantona can run France...
His first policy will be to deal with the pesky seagulls who follow the trawlers....they're devastating the French mackerel industry.
^^^ no, the mackerel industry love the seagulls because they're wiping out the sardine industry
I was thinking just that when I started reading this thread!
Interestingly, if he stands it may cause huge ructions. To stand you need 500 mayors to sign your application and there is no doubt that there are at least 500 who would happily do it for Eric.
Marine le Pen however, who currently is running third in the opinion polls with about 20% of the 'vote' is having trouble getting enough signatures together.
So if an ex- footballer and fashion icon who doesn't really want to be president but just highlight a problem area gets the opportunity while a very serious political contender is excluded, there may well be interesting repercussions.
She may be extremely right wing, but sarko is useless, Hollande is wallpaper, Joley is green except for her really stupid glasses and there are a couple of middle of the road 'nice guys'
All in all, a rum bunch of lightweight no-hopers, none of whom should even really consider running a country.
Every time I think about him (not in a gay way), it brings a smile to my face.
Without a doubt the 'best' player English football has ever had.
