    Hi UK HT nuts!

I am trying to set up a demo of the TW100 at RS Visual Prods Ltd in SE London. The guy on the phone reckons that it should not be a problem and they have the facilities etc. I told him that there was a buzz on the forums regarding this PJ and that I believed many would be up for a demo on the same evening!

Can you email me if you are interested, so I can inform RS?

Would anyone be willing to take a decent prog scan DVD player and even an HTPC or outboard scaler to check pixel mapping etc?

    Cheers Kane

PS I'm waiting for a call tomorrow.

I can't believe nobody in the London area wants to come and see this baby in action?

    Kane,

I've read quite many feedback on the TW100 from Japanese forums.

So far, no one's really impressed with the unit. :(
(Some of them got really disappointed due to the Epson's "Dream Process" advertising hype.)
But still I reckon it has potential to be the top notch LCD projector when tweaked properly with CCR filter & SMART.
No one has tweaked it, yet. out of the box, nothing special with it.

Thanks Eric. This is a little dissapointing, but can you tell me if this sort of "out of the box" responce was also the case in Japan with the AE100, VW 11HT, MT7 and others as well?

    Cheers Kane

    Kane,
Where are RS Visual Products based in SE London? I've already ordered a Sony VW11 so I doubt I will be swayed by the Epson but having a local projector supplier might be useful in the future!

    AE100 & 11HT were different.

due to the low price of AE100, everyone was impressed.
AE100 was considered & still being considered as best value for the money.
AE100 was the NO.1 selling projector in Japan & Korea during January. (I think it still is, I haven't seen the ranking table since then.)

And 11HT was compared to 10HT, and seemed most people agreed the major improvement & improved new LCD panel, circuit and bulb but using the same body as 10HT to keep the manufacturing cost down.

    I don't know about MT7. :(

    Kane,
we never know until the epson hit the US & European market.
This may turn out to be great, here. (I still have doubt, but never know.)

Has any one found a price for the EMP TW100 yet?

Looking at the spec alone, on paper it looks quite promising. 600:1 contrast, WXGA pannels, allthought the resolution of 1280x720 seems odd, I would of though true wxga would be 1366x764. 700 ANSI and a host of inputs icluding DVI (ideal for a HCPC) and component.

    Stephen,

The price of the Epson will be very similar to SONY 11HT.

1280*720 is very good resolution. b/c it does 1:1 pixel matching with Hi-Def 720p.

INHO, resolutions of 11HT which is 1366*768 is no better than 1280*720.

    I prefer 1280*720 to 1366*768.

    Hi all

The address is Unit 31 Metro Business centre, Kangley Bridge Rd, SE26 5BW. I'm not sure what other stuff they sell, only that they are an official Epson dealer.

I'm goin to call them again as they seem to have forgotten me again! This does says a lot does it?

    Hi Guys

Sorry to leave you in the dark regarding a demo. I spoke to Andrew Northover at RS just now and he told me that ther UK distributor for Epson won't even give him a price on it yet! As soon as he can get one in, he'll let me know.

Well, this is what he says, but up to now, I've had to chase him up, he has not called me once! he told me the reason he has not called is because he couldn't get one (or a price) yet, so there was no point!!! I think the "point" is not to leave people waiting around for a call?! Anyway, as soon as I know, you'll know! If in the mean time, anyone else could get a demo sorted anywhere in the London area, can you post details?

    Cheers Kane

Your dealer is giving you - whenever you call him - the correct info; the distributors have not set the price as yet.

I'll be on the case again tomorrow but no luck so far.

    Regards

    Joe

    Kane, I've found a price!

According to av-sales.com it's £3553.20 inc. VAT. Not so bad as I thought.

They also say it'll be available "mid March" and it's possible to arrange a demo. They're in Kent, by the way. ;)

    Regards.

I have contacted AV-Sales (via email), to try and set up a TW100 demo, using a VW11HT, PLV60, AE100 and LT150 alongside to compare!

They called me back within a couple of hours and I had a chat with a guy called Matthew (I think), who was very helpful and up for at least setting up one of the other suggested PJ's (AE100) with the TW100 for a shoot out, if not all, although he would try to get more set up, for a real contest!!! He said he will let me know as soon as they get one in, to set up the date, so whoever is interested in attending one evening, can you please confirm, as it will be easier to get them to set up a "proper" demo/shoot-out for more than one person!

This could be a great demo not just for those interested in the Epson, but the Panasonic, Sony etc!! Come see how they compare!

If anyone could bring a decent laptop with DVD player capable of outputting 1280X720, to check the PJ's pixel mapping, this would show what the unit is ultimately capable of. A stand-alone player can test the unit's own scaler and the Faroudja processing!

    Cheers Kane
