I am currently building an HCPC and I have used an Epox 8rda+ mb and the SPD-650 add on card (spdif expansion card).

I am having trouble getting any sound from the spdif connection through my receiver. I have tested the receiver is OK by connecting an external dvd using the optical cable. I have checked the audio settings are set to digital output. Is there any obvious things I may have missed?

I have contacted both EPOX and SONY. SONY have advised that the optical input is a industry standard connection, however, EPOX advised that they may be incompatible. Does anyone know why they may be incompatible or how I can get a sound card that is compatible?
