    Hi all,

Took this from R2-Project web site...

'In a major "Enterprise" article in a trade publication, Paramount have let it be known that "Enterprise" will be coming to DVD as a boxset just before or after Christmas this year. Paramount's "Star Trek Marketing expert" is quoted as saying about the opinions expressed in the survey:

"They want the product as quickly as they can get it and they know that VHS is the quickest route to market"

"They also said that what they didn't want was DVDs month in and month out with poor extras. They want a DVD box set that is totally comprehensive."

The article also mentions that the extras for the set are already being worked upon although there are no details as of yet. However we can confirm that the VHS series (at least episode one) is being released widescreen (around 1.78:1 letterbox) so I guess that the eventual DVD release will also be widescreen.'

Sounds good to me (although how can I put it on my christmas list if they release it just 'after' christmas!!)

    Update from R2 Project:

    ---

    official statement from Paramount UK:

"In order to continuously bring quality product to the marketplace and implement a universal release strategy for Star Trek, Paramount Home Entertainment (UK) Ltd will be focusing on Deep Space Nine and Star Trek Motion Pictures in 2003. At this stage there is no confirmed release date for ENTERPRISE, however any release of this brand going forward will be based on a coordinated worldwide approach."

So it looks like we won't be getting "Enterprise" this year and when we do it will be a world wide release. Plans, as ever, could change though.

    ---

I was really looking forward to this release (last year!)

    :( :( :(

Not exactly a shocker when the mount have always slayed fans for vhs ad nauseum (market 'research' 'justification' above states gonna:( )and what's happening now; more vhs insults coupled with dvd re-release of dvd films. The study done obviously flagged fears for the marketting guys and gals with a single series by series boxset and so out rolls vhs. Still, I bet there will be an attempt to 'specialise' some of the Enterprise dvd outings. I wonder if Lucas is payed a consultancy fee...
This show started well but IMO has gone down hill in S2 with old storyboard format being taken up and nothing new offered. It's all too familiar with the 2nd officer being the lurve God who's a bit hands-on. The Vulcan officer who is a cross between 7 of Nine and a watered Spoc and an English stuffed shirt to be shown how dim he is compared to intelligent feeling Americans...
What they really need is another ep where one of them gets stuck on a planet or the Captain acts as an ambassadar of reason. Or, how about an ep with friendly fire that wasn't their fault.
    Can't wait for S1. though.

I'd think it more likely we'll see Voyager reach DVD in box set form just after Christmas (actually it's a dead cert for '04).

Might see the fisrt season of Enterprise that year too I suppose. Maybe.
