Just a quick line whilst the ads are on.
Whilst it looks good so far, the first scene they got it wrong I thought the Klingons appearance changed somewhere between Star Trek and Star Trek Next Generation, i.e. they was almost human in the S.T. this was even referred to in S.T.N.G.
By the way I do not like the theme song.

By the way Sky digital viewer I’m extremely, irritated of with this active button and can see me cancelling my subscription in the near future.

    Ruby quartz shades.

P.S. not in widescreen! but not surprised.

Recording it on my Sky plus box. Watched first 60mins though. Dissapointed it was filmed in hi def 16:9 and we get scabby pan and scan version...

I liked the idea of the new theme song. Makes it seem so unlike all that went before. Not too happy with T'Pol who doesn't seem very Vulcan at all. Far too emotional. Liked the idea that on first away mission the crew end up in a lap dancing club hahahaha....

More thoughts after viewing rest of it

Was the villain hidden in that blue beam the Vulcan at the beginning.

I noticed it gets turned off during the adverts. The advertisers probably insist on it.

I was quite satisfied with the what I saw, for a first episode anyway. It didn't feel like Star Trek. None of the 'too good to be true' one and a half dimensional characters that took over Voyager and DS9.

A nice departure from the same old music, replacing it with a nice 80's pop song... a bit like Baywatch. And I was quite suprised to hear a few light swear words in there too. A more human crew than the collection of boring nerds that usually populated the Star Trek cast.

I too wondered why the Klingons were presented in their modern day prosthetic appearance. I'm sure it will cause massive controversy amongst the Trekker community.

Look forward to the next episode.

I thought it was ok. It always takes a while for the audience to 'bond' with the characters. It doesn't always happen. DS9 didn't work for me. Voyager did.
The Vulcan bird is a bit like 7 of 9. Not actually attractive but great body. Specially shown off in the decontamination scene.
Re the Klingons thing, the DS9 episode which went back to the original episode 'trouble with tribbles' kind of did but didn't explain things.
Warf was asked about them. He's embarrased and says they ARE Klingons. - It's a long story.
So it's not like Klingons evolve ridged foreheads between the series - they have always had them.
E.g. in one episode of DS9, the original (is it) Kayless is recreated (cloned?). He is genetically identical to the original. Of course he has ridges.
So infact there would have been more inconsistancies if the Klingons didn't have the ridges.
But that's enough anal Star Trek plot trivia.

And there was me thinking it was because the make-up department was that bit better for the later series. Its amazing how much effort and explanation can be found for an awful lot of little bits like that in a lot of cult TV. I remeber back in the days when USENET newsgroups ruled the internet the Red Dwarf Inconsistents Plot Project, where people, very much tongue in cheek would attempt to explain every single plot-hole and production cock-up.

Blimey, Spectre... and there was me under the impression that you are a very busy guy.

You must have had a lot of free time to think all that over. I would have been quite happy with the usual "It's not real! It's just a TV show!" response I get from my family. :)

what i want to know is:- In Voyager, why can't they back-up that hologram doctor?? Cos i remember watching an episode (girlfriend is a big fan :( ...) where they were gonna lose the doctor because of something, and they couldn't do a backup...

Why can't they copy him too, or create a holographic nurse (a great deal of fun to be had there methinks), instead of having just one 'person' making up the whole medical department (which seems to be what has happened with Enterprise too)?

Ok how about the whole genetic engineering scheme is actually what the klingon courier guy was bringing back to a particular faction on the homeworld. It is in fact this genetic engineering program that changes the rufty tufty klingons into their lionel blair like versions that camp it up in the original series. It took the klingons a hundred years to rectify their mistake and return their genome to its original state.

This is the very embarassing long story that Worf mentions.
Its also what really sparks off hostilities between human and klingon when they find they've actually got human DNA courtesy of shadowy man in their illicit genetic engineering scheme.

( admittedly I stopped paying attentionm after the decon/vaseline scene)

Obviously with Vulcans, it's not just their ears which are pert.

I didn’t think she was bad looking at all, I think if you looked beyond the vulcan hair cut you too would find her attractive.
By the way in the decontamination room when they were rubbing the gel on themselves and each other, how come the did not do anything with their hair, one of the best places for micro organisms to hide, but then again you haven’t to take it serious (but we like nit picking).

Wow! they still use silicon implants in the 22nd century :D its got to be the first Star trek episode I nearly got a bone on ;) loved the decamination scene.
As for the new theme tune I thought it was a great change from boring old insrumental.
I reckon T'pol will be one of the best charactors. I just hope she does a few more bare flesh scenes :D

    Just a couple of notes.

You can make the active button disappear by pressing 'backup' on the remote.

I have seen all the episodes of enterprise (downloaded off internet), stick with it it does get better.

I would get in trouble for answering that!

I'm rather enjoying Enterprise, it isn't perfect, let's face it. I agree with the decision to go backwards instead of forwards, what with the learning curve the crew have there should be lots of nice character development.

Sky are a cr*p broadcaster - logos, pan & scan, no introductions, and adverts coupled with a low bit rate.

(Rightly placed with Granada Breeze etc)

I will rewatch Enterprise when it gets to C4 (pity not BBC)

What is this red dot stuff? - don't get on my TV

I'd like to say that I love Startrek & I am really enjoying ENTERPRISE. As for the Klingons looking like Humans in the original series, I remember reading an artical in Startrek Monthly mag that they planned to have the Klingons with bumpy foreheads but they didn't have enough cash in their budget. Also, I quite like the theme tune.
I wonder if they'll do another prequel when Enterprise ends.
    Cheers, Neil.

Its all a matter of taste I for example loved ST-TNG, Loved ST-DS9, but for years hated ST-Voyager. I dont find DS9 boring but it was darker.
I think Paramount are correct to only have one series as I think having two devides the fans. ie Im a DS9 fan and Its a know fact that all Voyager fans Smell....

ST Enterprise LOVE IT but bin the Country and Western theme tune.

The Next Series I'd like to see ST Klingons.... a seven year mission of drinking and killing things......... Ho those Klingon Women .................
