England v India NatWest Series Final 2002 The Greatest One Day Match Ever? Due to massive public demand, extended highlights of the recent NatWest Series final between England and India are to be released on DVD at the start of September.

Does anyone know whether this disc will be in DTS as well as DD?

Initial R1 is to be DD EX/DTS ES full screen anamorphic.
R2 is 4:3 pan and scan with mono soundtrack.
Expect R2 SE to be same as R1 release January 2003.
    Hope this helps.

Hopefully there will be a Directors Cut LE with a tin of wet paint.
Twice the fun that way. You get to watch cricket and paint drying at the same time.

All I need now is the hightlights from the 1926 Tiddlewinks championships with a THX certificated and my collection is complete...

That would be a tough choice, but if able to watch the paint dry, that would swing it to miss the cricket.
If golf is on I can stare at my carpet growing instead for hours, same with football, rugby, tennis, snooker, darts, athletics......

    Good news Ian J

For the non cricket fans, if u don't understand it, don't hate it.
For non sports ppl, carry on watching eastenders and like, and watch paint dry while the World cup, commonwealth games, cricket finals and european athletics has passed u by.

    I Do understand it.

    I dont hate.

I just find it DULL DULL DULL.

I find the Highlights quite exciting. (where they show you all the play in about 15 mins). For my mind Cricket suffers from the same problem as American Football.

In Yankee Football its a one hour game, which takes 4-5 hours to play in which there is an average of 15 mins of play!!!!

    Regards

And the Director's Cut is the only one which is shorter than the original, comprising chapters 1, 14 and 26...

Maybe they'll be an alternate commentary...

One where they talk about the cricket as opposed to the cakes etc they've been sent in by viewers/listeners...

Well I just hope the sound is better than my "Complete Ashes Test collection - 60 DVDs of the most intense cricket action EVER". I tend to find my Sub is little lazy on the almighty thump of when the ball hits the floor and that the surround sound of some lay about student drinking beer on a thursday afternoon wearing a funny hat is not quite the sharpness I would expect.

In all fairness, I do love cricket, but does it really matter whether it is DTS etc.? It does not really need THX treatment :p

About five years ago the One Day Internationals used to be in pro logic and you felt like you were in the crowd with all of the laughing, chattering and belching coming from the rears but they don't bother any more.

Jase's idea of a day at the cricket was similar to my day at Trent Bridge on Friday. It had rained most of the night and in the morning over Nottingham (but not in the surrounding areas). Play started at 2.20 and two hours later the heavens opened and that was the end of the day's cricket.

What was really annoying was that the weather on the following day was superb.

    Ian

Do you know if it will be the uncut version:confused:

You know, the one with Richie Benaud swearing throughout the commentary and Mark Nicholas shagging Dermot Reeve up the pavillion steps.

    Ian,

Do you know whether this title will be released on region one in North America? (as I much prefer NTSC DVDs).

Also, do you think it will be in widescreen? I hope so, otherwise the boundaries will be missing and we will not be able to tell if the ball went for four runs or not.

    Thanx

Has to be the PAL R2 for me.

The 4% speed up means I can get through the whole thing quicker (Which has to be a good thing).

As it was filmed in England there won't be any speed up but Lex (who obviously enjoys his cricket more) wants the R1 version which presumably will be 4% slower.

Darren Gough is very keen to be the first bowler to break the 100mph barrier. If he plays in USA and bowls just over 95 mph it will reach 100mph by the time it is transferred to PAL
