Fantastic, they're all out for 79. We win by 100. I know the ashes won't be this easy and the Aussies will be back but even so, fantastic....

I missed the beginning of this  Came in to find hubby jumping up and down at about the 6th or 7th wicket. I don't know much about cricket but I enjoy watching it, have been to see Glamorgan a couple of times - not this year thank God!!

Love the 20-20 though - and what a great start to the summer

Wow - was the atmosphere as good in the ground as it seemed on the TV? You were very lucky to be there...

I has accepted an invitation to the evening meeting at Windsor races last night and was sorry that I had to miss the cricket but on the other side of the course bang opposite our box was a giant screen where they were showing the game and many of the guests seemed more interested in the humbling od the mighty Aussies than in the horse racing. Unfortunately whilst great to thrash them in such style it won't mean a thing when the real cricket starts.

I'll be at the One Day International at Bristol this Sunday against Australia so I hope to see another England victory

Anyway, as much as it troubles me to say it
    Well done :smashin:

They say the 20-20 game forces a team to play so quickly, that the skipper barely has time to think. Just the sort of cricket that Michael Vaughan should be playing then.

Great game, great result :smashin: The only down-side was Michael Vaughan's performance with the bat. The one shot he played looked almost comical... on his day he is the best batsman around, so why does he keep getting it it so wrong like that in the one day game?!

Why is that peeps get so excited by ONE win. This defeat will really motivate the Aussies .| I personally would get my head down and show a little humility and realise they are the BEST cricket team in the world by a long way.

I suppose that it should come as no surprise that Somerset County Cricket Club are doing their best to play the Australians into form. It's traditional for each county to have a game with a touring side every season and there is always loads of lobbying going on as to who gets to play who as they can be great moneyspinners if your County gets one of the more exciting sides and with respect to Bangladesh many more people would rather watch their county side play Australia than anyone else.

Having got a prized fixture of a one day match against Australia today, Somerset have repaid the ECB by fieding a weakened side leaving out their trio of fast bowlers Caddick, Johnson and McLean. Thanks to Somerset's generosity the Australians are now well on their way to recovering from the mauling they received on Monday having feasted on a diet of half volleys from part time bowlers and second stringers.

The ECB should only allow Counties who are willing to put out their best teams to play these more attractive money making fixtures whilst the others can play Sri Lanka Under 19 or whoever else happens to be touring that year.

I agree Ian, tickets were sold out for the ground only to get a sub-standard match.

I'd like to have seen Ponting laugh that one off.

"well you know, Somerset are a quality Div 2 side, they have 2 international players as well."

    ha ha ha ha

That is an amazing result which seems to be mainly courtesy of Somerset's overseas players who opened the batting and tonked the ball all over the park making Australia's bowlers look like amateurs in the process.

Mike Kasprowicz conceded 89 runs from his 8 overs and some of the others also had bowling figures that they won't be proud of. All credit to Someset for the win but wouldn't it have been better if they had played their best bowlers too and really had a go at humbling the mighty Australia.

Just saw Ricky Ponting being grilled by the Aussie press on Sky Sports News - he was fuming! :D
Now we just have to cheer on the Bangledeshi boys on saturday - a hat-trick of defeats - now that would be worth getting "carried away" about!!

How could you not defend that total?

Don’t know anything about the Somerset ground, but is it the size of a vacant house block?
