Just noticed on the homepage the search plug-in for firefox eviljohn2 has created. Very good!
Why thank you. I've never had a thread named after me before!
Well done that man!!
Can I take this opportunity to ask whatever happened to Eviljohn1? Was there originally an Eviljohn (no sequels)? Just something that keeps me awake at night
Eviljohn and eviljohn1 were already taken (for a different site) and it makes sense to be consistent.
If anyone's interested I've also found out how to order the search menu list and have put it in my Firefox thread in the Feedback section, I've also put a list of the extensions I use in my gallery.
Nice work you whizz!
Any chance of sorting out a cdprofiler now then?
How do you mean? As it happens I don't know the first thing about web-design and the only programming background I have is from a short-course in C and self-taught time with Labview and Excel.
I've got a spreadsheet list of my CDs (yes, I know a database would have been the correct choice of software!) but I assume you fancy something a little more advanced than that...
Please can a friendly mod change this thread title to something that doesn't include my name? I'm a bit bashful and not good with all this attention.
Yeah something along the lines of Intervocative's DVDProfiler.
I have no programming experience at all so I don't know how difficult these things are.
I've not come across DVD Profiler but I'll have a look into it. If it has half the functionality that I'd want from such a product then I wouldn't even know where to start!
Perhaps a forum effort should be made as I'm sure everyone could benefit from a good CD database.
Agh crap I just tried to edit it (as I started the thread) but it only changed the little title above my first post. Sorry!
What do you guys mean by a CD Database?
Thanks for the effort mate, I guess I'll just have to put up with being a hero for a while.
It seems that DVD Profiler is a downloadable piece of software that you can use to catalogue your DVD collection. It connects to the DVD Profiler database and stores every piece of information available for archiving the disc! www.dvdprofiler.com
have a look at my dvd link in my sig to see it in action. You get a lot more funcionality in the software downloaded to the pc. Entering a dvd is dead easy, you just type in teh EAN from teh bar code and it then downloads all the graphics, actors, etc
It's a seriously nifty program. And it's virtually idiot proof....................well it's proof from me anyway
i got me some catching up to do
It's amazing what can be done when there is revision to be done
I can only blame myself for introducing John to the world of AV, making him spend all his money! He's an extremely talented chap who deserves his own thread, but needs to be told to go do some work for his finals
That was some thread title change
ERRR some hope! But here we go -" Michael Athertons barmy army"
I just noticed the thread "England to win The Ashes" started by mcfarfs......I was thinking "What the hell?! I can't remember starting that thread!!!"!!!
Thought I had gone crazy!
Top stuff Ian, you confused the hell out of me but I hope we do!
Monkeynuts is right, I blame him entirely for making me realise that hifi/AV was in the price bracket of normal people if they were careful with their money - he even introduced me to the forums!
Only one exam left now though so you can't get rid of me that easily.
If monkeynuts is who I think he is - something horrific is beginning to dawn on me
Why what have i done!? Or you done?!
Whats wrong with the Marantz SR6200 you sold me on ebay!?
It's still going strong!
As I recall I suggested to you that you should look in at AV Forums. If you subsequently introduced eviljohn, it's all my fault and I will just have to learn to live with the consequences.
I'm glad someone is taking full responsibility
And the amp has been superb and thank you for introducing me to the forums, my bank balance has never been the same since
You couldn't make it up!
