Sorry, I'm asking you mate.

I've definitely got DD 2.0, no center, surrounds or sub :thumbsdow

And it's worse than DPL11 :thumbsdow:thumbsdow

Weird

I've got 5.1 here but it's pretty poorly implemented compared to other BBC football I've watched.

Mostly directed from the front 3 speakers with very little (although some) at the rear.

Ah, I'm on cable, which probably explains it :(

Ah well on with the game.
Catch you later.

Aside from the sound, is it just me or is the PQ of the game not nearly as good as it has been. Noticed a lot of noise on the pitch side cameras - certainly not appearing to be as good quality as the Sky games have been of late...

Is it me, or are others noticing this as well?

PQ seems excellent to me, especially compared to today's cricket, which, for me, was one of the worst cricket PQ's this year. Even the usual switching between SD and HD versions, although obviously different did not highlight the difference as strikingly as it usually does.

I've just switched to BBC One and noticed the obvious quality difference, but I still think it is not as clear and sharp as it has been before on BBC HD, nor as it is on Sky Sports HD.

Also Ken, I think the cricket looked lovely today. It could jus be me - I'm wearing my glasses instead of my contacts and that could be making a softening difference to my eyes.

One thing looks the same in HD as in SD though - Heskey is a bloody Donkey!

I was thinking the exact opposite! Cricket was flawless , but the football, though it is still a fantastic picture, has some noticeable noise present.

I wouldn't say "a lot" but there's definitely a bit of noise, especially when they go to the pitch side cameras as you say.

It just seems to be a little sub-standard compared to other BBC football broadcasts, sound more so than PQ though.

Just realised that sound is also strange on mine - only coming out of the front L and R speakers, nothing from centre, or rear speakers, even though amp display says Dolby Digital 5.1. Must be the broadcast as everything OK on other 5.1 channels.

It's Dolby Digital stereo, your amp is then applying Pro Logic IIx to add the centre and surrounds as it would with a matrix source.

The broadcast is two-channel only.

Re PQ again - I'm starting to think that the PQ is probably consistent and that any perceived variations may be in the eye of the beholder on any given day. At least two people (and probably may more) thought cricket was excellent (and I'm sure it was for them) yet I thought it wasn't up to the usual high standard, particularly on close up shots of players' faces.

This is not the first time this has happened to me - sometimes I think PQ is absolutely stunning - especially on sport; another day it doesn't seem to have the same effect - excellent, but not stunning.

I doubt very much that what comes out of my TV/STB would vary that much (not in HD, anyway), so think I'll stop expecting perfection and accept that my perceptions of things may change from day to day and that factors like location, weather, etc can affect PQ.
