    Hi
Its one of these....went to listen to them both today. Both sounded good, although i have to admit, the Kefs were just that bit better. The only thing is i'm not too keen on the styling.Ones £600 the other £700.I have a Denon 1602 amp.

Any opinions welcome........one sounds better, but the others a bit cheaper.

    Thanks in advance
    Paul.

This is quite an unusual question as far too many people are asking for opinions without hearing the speakers themselves.

Speaker sound tends to be very subjective and you have listened to both sets and made up your own mind. Others who have lsitened to the same two sets will disagree, such is the nature of the beast.

Only you can decide how much you value the extra sound quality of one over the other and whether you could live with the looks of the eggs.

Invite other people's opinions by all means but it is your ears that will be listening to them and therefore your own opinion is much more valid than those of other people.

The only thing that I will add is that both are well respected speaker sets and both have their fans on this forum and in the magazines.

    Paul,

For what it's worth I have been using the Take 5's for a couple of years now with a Sony amp and I can't fault them. I was also lucky to pick them up while visiting a mate in Dubaii for £280 (including the Sub!!), so they were very good value for money.

    Thanks Ian.
As you say,i've listened to them both.
Basically i'm going to have a think over the weekend and get one set on Mon/Tue.I just wondered if there was anyone who had bought one of these sets and were either

    A.Very pleased or,
    B.Dissapointed

    .......or any other relevant comments.
I'm sure there must be others who have faced this choice,......and with hindsight (something i dont have yet) how do they feel.

BTW my only real concern is if i bought the Kefs are they "too good"for my amp?

    Thanks
    Paul.

    Paul,

At the time I bought them they were listed at about £1000 over here and I was considering buying them from the USA and paying the shipping and import taxes as it would still have been a lot cheaper than buying them in the UK. Don't know if this is still the case?

No they are not. the Denon is a good amp and there are many on this forum with the Denon / egg combination.

You obviously want small speakers and they are the current forum favourites.

Personally I don't like sub sats and think that whilst OK for home cinema they are not as good for music. I have garaged mine and bought larger speakers as they are more musical.

There again I have a wife that puts up with a sitting room that looks like a Hifi shop.

Ian....its only for home cinema........for music i have a separate set up.

    Pioneer A400
    Tannoy M20's
    and Marantz CD41

So obviously size is a consideration.I like going in Richer Sounds, just dont want my living room to look like it......LOL
My Denon is the 1602,at the lower end of the scale.
Personally i'd prefer the looks and the price of the Take 5's,its just i was so impressed with the sound of the Kefs.

    Paul.
(i think in the end i'll be happy with either)
