Encoding for ATV 1st gen takes 6 hours!!

I have a 1st gen ATV and an ACER Aspire 6920G laptop with a Intel Core 2 Duo T5900 2.2 GHz, 4 GB RAM spec.

I'm using MakeMKV and then Handbrake but a film like Dave is taking 6 hours to encode? Is this an accurate figure or is my laptop slow?

Probably is accurate if it's a Blu-ray most x264 encoders are tuned for quality not speed.

If it's a DVD it's just a little on the slower side but that might be expected with a laptop.

Are you running XBMC on the ATV1, if using DVD's you shouldn't need to convert I think, the CPU is strong enough for the original MPEG-2/MKV video.
