Googling tells me you cannot get recorded progs off the hard disk. You can stream content from your network but I cannot confirm you can copy files to the box or that it is a NAS (just a CNAS whatever that is!).

Can't find out also if U can use box without HD (just for streaming from PC or NAS)....

Can't find any info on how to get the Linux source code for improving it - it is supposed to be open source isnt it?

    Still, it's promising.

I've just seen the Movie Cube on QVC and having recently bought a TViX M-3100U must say that it looks to be a far superior product. It's more money of course, but you get so much more functionality. The contents of the box include just about everything you might want. It's TV rather than computer oriented, although of course you can connect via usb. This should make the Movie Cube easy to use. My TViX is buggy and although basic I would not describe it as user friendly.

Doesn't appear to have a tuner.
It records directly from the TV via Scart.

I got one of these from QVC a month or so back,it arrived with the security seal broken and already needing a firmware update,it was difficult to set up and had loads of wires coming out of the back,on the whole it didn't perform very well at all was constantly freezing up and then stopped output to TV totally. This was the 5oo gb version, ended up sending it back,i wouldn't recommend it at all.Firmware update was supposed to be possible via pc but it isn't you have to put the update on a flash drive then put that into the cube and follow on screen instructions,a bit hard when it won't show anything on the tv.Emtec weren't very helpful.

I've been looking for a media player that will play movies from a USB memory stick. Hard drive is optional. The Movie cube says it will play photos from one but does anyone know if it play movies. I don't want to stream from my PC at the other end of the house.
