Blockbuster are also doing Xbox 360 Elite, Halo3, Blue Dragon for £319.00

Trade in value for Blue Dragon = £26

Sounds good...but my local store are having trouble getting Elites. Bah.

Ive been in Blockbuster today to see how much I can get trade in against an Elite,

As pointed out in the thread its £299 for the Elite inc Halo 3 and 10% off any other game, I dont need Halo as already got it on pre order so it would work out like this

    £100 for the 360
£25 for the 20gb hard drive
    £18 for the wireless controller
£26 trade in of Halo 3 that I dont require

Extra cost of £130 to upgrade to Elite, is it worth it?

Any other stores doing a better value trade in than this?

Read the thread about noise levels to see if it is worth upgrading.

I am tempted, but the noise issue is putting me off, especially as I have a nice quiter Premium (my 3rd now)

I'm buying an Elite + Halo 3 Limited Edition Tin version this wednesday for £299.99.

    HMV Bundle = Elite + Blue Dragon + Stuntman = £299.99

Trade Value on Blue Dragon & Stuntman is £25 each at GAME = £50

Halo 3 Limited Edition is £49.99.

So all in all you're getting it for £299.99 and probably gaining a 1p in change! :D Thats my plan, the second closest plan was Blockbusters Halo 3 + Elite for £309.99.

Just looked on HMV site, the Elite is £299, thats it. No mention of any deal with games for that price?

Same on Games site no mention of any deal with games or mention of trade ins ?

Are the offers only at the stores?

It looks like a few places have got a bit stingy on the bundles, HMV did the Elite with a couple of games for £300 not long ago. Gamestation have tightented up on theirs too. Can only assume it's because they think Halo will sell the machines now.

Finally did my trade in yesterday,

    Firstly the good part

Gamestation were only offering £90 for the core system trade in compared to Blockbusters £100, however the assistant in Gamestation stated that if I could get proof that BB were offering me £100 they would beat it by £1. I went back to BB and got them to print me out a copy of their offer and took this back to Gamestation and true to his word they offered me £101. My reason for going through the hassle of going back and forth between the two stores was this, BBs only Elite bundle at the minute is an Elite + Halo 3 for £299 whereas Gamestation had a great little bundle of an Elite + Blue Dragon + Forza 2 + an extra wireless controller for £314.99. Thats a lot of extra stuff for an additional £15 in my eyes.

    Now the bad part

I get home all happy after doing my trade in to find that the very nice shop assistant had not bothered to put my Blue Dragon game in the case, so I have the game box with no game or manual. I called Gamestation and the assistant thought it was hilarious (I DID NOT)! Late last night I decide I am going to have a go of Forza 2 so turn on the Elite and set up my Live account, everything seems great, picture is crystal clear through HDMI and im raring to go. I press the button to open the disc tray and nothing happens, I try again and again and again but still nothing! My Elite is currently back in its packaging ready to be returned to Gamestation this morning, I am not a happy camper! I just hope for the assistants sake they do an instant exchange for the Elite because if he trys to tell me that I will have to wait weeks while it is sent away for repair I am likely to blow a gasket!!

    Alls well that ends well!!!!!

Took the Elite back first thing, assistant tried it, saw that the tray would not open and gave me an instant exchange, also gave me the copy of Blue Dragon I was missing, no questions asked.

While I was in town I thought I may as well give the Halo 3 hunt another shot, asked in WH Smiths, Woolworths and HMV with no joy, I thought I would try once more at Morrisons and the young girl behind the counter sold me it! No mention of release dates etc her only question was

"£39.99, wow are games always that expensive?"

When she said that I knew I was on to a winner!:D:):smashin:;)

Might therefore be an idea for others to try Morrisons, I wont start a "Morrisons breaks street date thread" because quite simply like the Tesco situation it will be completely hit and miss depending on who is serving behind the counter, my advice would be look for a female assistant to stand a better chance!

Good luck, im off to kick some Covenant ass!!!

GAME are doing Elite + Halo 3; I was in the store last night. I didn't check on prices though because I already had Halo so wasn't interested.

HMV in Reading. Bought it 10.30 this morning.

They have a VERY small photocopied sign, the size of a game case, just as you enter the door, along with the Halo 3 games. It is very easy to miss - almost like they are trying to hide it!

HMV looks the best deal. Gamestaion had Elite + Blue Dragon + Forza + Controller for 315, but the same deal with Halo (and no Blue dragon) was £345

I think Virgin was 333 for elite plus halo and another game. they also had the collectors Halo 3 for £40.

apparently the halo elite hmv deal was for today only.

I rang my local one(60miles) and they confirmed it.

missed out on halo today as the local tesco had none, the local woolies were sold out and my local choices closed down this morning!!!!! maybe im not meant to buy it today
