    Hi,

I've just sold my Wii and I'm going to get a 360, but I'm not sure whether I'll need the extra HDD space? Now that the premiums come with a hdmi port, and apparently the same hardware as the elites, is the extra money worth the bigger hdd?

    thanks

Apparently the premium doesn't come with an HDMI cable or the dongle for the optical out (the Elite has both) so if you need these then the Elite is probably better value.

If not, then the premium will do you.

The elite is better value. Its comes with the hdmi cables ($50) and a 120gb drive (which alone costs £120) for an extra £50

ah ok. I probably won't use the extra cables from day 1, but they are there for the future (when I can afford some decent equipment).

an elite it is then! cheers

If thats what M$ want to charge for the cable and the audio dongle then thats what they charge! It sucks but there you go. The dongle is the tricky one unless you have a hdmi equiped amp you are'nt going to be able to drive a 5.1 setup from the premium (using hdmi) without the dongle. Then there is the roll out of the iptv functionality (hence the bigger hd) the drive on its own is around the £120 quid mark if you do decide to use it you'll want the larger drive.

Thus if you already have a 360 and know the new functionality interests you then it makes better sense from a value perspective to exchange it with some games (and spare peripherals if you got em) for an elite before the value dumps through the floor and the trade in price goes south (its already gone from £190 to £160 in gamestation, I got £240 for mine including an extra controller and a couple of games) and get the new three year warranty and the other bits for a lower total cost of ownership than waiting for the new premium and buying the bits piecemeal.
