Electric Toothbrush how do you use one?

I've just started using an electric toothbrush and it didn't come with any instructions about how you're supposed to use them.

Do you use one like a normal toothbrush scrubbing teeth in rows or pass the brush slowly over each tooth completing a whole sweep? I'm doing the latter, two slow sweeps front, top and inside.

You don't need to scrub like a manual one. The bristles do the the work, so just pass it along your teeth in a methodical fashion, trying to get to the same places as you normally would. The gum line is important obviously.

Depends what toothbrush you have I'd imagine, though most are designed to polish/buff the tooth, so you should position the spinning/moving head on each individual tooth and angle it forwards and backwards to cover all of the tooth. Each tooth should get a few seconds for the front, the top and the back, you should still be spending around 2 minutes brushing your teeth.

Don't go nuts, though. You don't need a lot of pressure to clean the teeth properly. I have to use mine on the "gentle" setting as I have eroded tooth enamel, which gives me terrible neuralgia when it's cold out (which is why I'm still wearing a scarf in mid-April).

Not much pressure at all. I once used to apply too much and broke heads

I'm not sure what brand you have but the original Braun heads are horrendously priced, at c. £10 IIRC for a pack of 4 (high street/supermarket price)

You can pick up some equally good imitations from eBay at c. £2

Let this be a cautionary tale. My brother bought a set of 4 brush heads for his Oral-B off ebay for five pounds something. The first one he used started to spin in a wonky fashion after a weeks use and the circular brush end came away in his mouth. The second brush lasted a little longer but on Monday it broke in his mouth and he nearly choked on the brush end but worst still a wire running through the centre of the brush end embedded itself in his jaw resulting in a visit to A&E. I'm sticking to the kosher ones.
