I am about to purchase the Marantz SR4300 and Elac Cinema 1 package but I would like 6.1. I've seen the XL package's dedicated centre speaker is sold seperately for about £75. My question is, if I order the Cinema 1 package and the XL centre will I get 6.1 that works correctly or do you have to buy 6.1 as a package?

    Cheers

Why not buy another cinema 1 sattelite? It's cheaper and will be a better match tonally. The only review I've seen for the XL package (admittedly WHF) said that the larger center unbalanced the sound and that the cinema 1 package worked more cohesively.

Thanks for that, I just assumed that a dedicated centre would be better, but if that's not the case then I will just buy another sat.

I'm in the same situation also, having received my sony 1080 and Elac Cinema 1 yesterday.

I too was thinking about get the Elac XL centre to make it 6.1 but now i may just get another cinema 1 sat.

Unless anyone else out there thinks the XL centre would be better???

I have auditioned the XL package and agreed with WHF, its not very good at all. Personally I am very happy with my Cinema 1 6.1 and Sony STB 1080.

Elac are about to release a dedicated center speaker for the Cinema 1 package. It is called the Cinema 1 CM. The Center XL speaker is designed for the Cinema 2 system.

I am waiting for Sennheiser to get back to me to say when it will be available in the UK.

Wow, talk about reviving an old thread. :)

Anyway, I still haven't bought that 6th centre speaker yet, so the Cinema 1 CM centre speaker looks very interesting indeed. I'll be keeping any eye for its release, thanks for the info kwangomango.

I haven't really listened to that much music on my elacs but what I've heard sounds pretty good.
