    Hello,

I currently run a 5.1.2 and using the onkyo 410s.
Was thinking of upgrading to a 5.1.4 and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Elac A4s

Kef r50s are very much out of my price range.
Was going to buy 2 pairs and replace the onkyos completely, would this be a substantial upgrade?

    Hi,
I was thinking about buying the 410's - when they are finally in stock in the UK. Can I ask why you are thinking about upgrading to the A4's? Do you have an issue with the 410's as I can afford the A4's but didnt really want to spend £250? Secondly if you have already bought the A4's are they worth the extra £100 or so? Thanks. Andy.

The Elac A4's use a dedicate tweeter (with wave guide) and mid driver and a proper crossover, while the onky simply uses a single full range driver. That alone should make a big difference, and is where some of the extra money goes. The Onkyo speakers are popular because theyre a good cheap solution, but on paper at least the Elac look a lot better (better driver, a touch more sensitive) and theyre selling well too. Unfortunately Ive not heard the Onkyo ones so couldnt comment from direct experience.

    Regards

    Dan
