No VP9.2 support, no HD/4K Netflix, and 3D playback stutters? Can't see myself shelling out that kind of money, then.

Did you do any tests for Dolby Vision support? I remember a while back there was some ill-feeling on the Egreat forum because their devices were advertised as supporting DV but actually didn't.

Not possible to have the DV support most people are interested in. DV on UHD discs is dual-track, for which a disc player is needed. (There's also single-track DV which is used for streaming.)

If the media player can handle Netflix or Amazon video, then it becomes relevant.

There's zero chance Netflix will ever certify it.

Does that also apply to Dolby Atmos support?

not far off an xbox one x price , just need them to develop the KODI option a little more, and 4k youtube netflix amazon , 4k bluray etc, failing that Nvidia shield still looks like a good value option

That is s lot of money for a what seems to be a very vanilla media player, I actually know one person who's amp will do Atmos but can't pass 4k hdr so may be of use to him, but I really can't see him dropping that amount.
I'm getting 4k hdr, auto refresh rate switching DTS X and Atmos from a £45 android box running Libreelec.

The A5 was a simply dreadful device in comparison to the competition. I'll pass on the A11, which no doubt will have the same real world flaws, and use the 400 for a holiday instead :D

That's poor at this pricepoint eh! I've recently got a Zidoo X9S - for about 1/4 of this price - which so far has played all 3D movies I've thrown at it (ISOs) with zero stutters.

4k is fine but some 1080p and 720p scenes esp at night you can see the shadow images (pixels), Day scenes are fab tho, egreat are aware of this and will fix it when the Android 7 hits hopefully this summer.

Hi @mike0zero - yes I mostly use PowerDVD software in Windows to play movies (version 16 mostly). It's pretty good and can mount ISO's and organise movies nicely. I find it's very good with both 3D and 2D ISO's in general, but it can't properly switch refresh rates for 2D video files I've found - e.g. MKV's. Not on my system anyway, and from my online searches this seems to be a general issue the manufacturers have been made aware of over the last 2 versions and haven't addressed. Also I've found it won't auto-on HDR - it seems you need to manually turn this on in Windows (10). Again this may be unique to my system or I haven't found the trick yet.

By contrast frame rate switching with the Zidoo has been rock solid for all file types I've tried - ISO's, MKV's, MP4s...both 2D and 3D. And auto-on of HDR output. And it's just that bit more convenient - just turn the PC on (my file server) and then you can do everything with the Zidoo remote. The only issue I've run into so far with the Zidoo is it seems stuck on 1080 as an output resolution when in Auto mode. I can force it to output 4K but then I get stuttering and loss of audio issues. Some peculiarity of my system I've not ironed out yet I guess, as on the Zidoo threads it seems many others don't have this issue. Not a big deal for me so far as all my movie and TV collection is 1080 and I have other options for playing the odd bit of 4K content.

Sorry this is a bit off topic.

well i've had the A11 for a month or two mainly for the 2nd hdmi output into an ageing marantz sr 7007 , yes it's expensive but who else has done a media player with two hdmi's none when i was looking , i've had a few media player's over the years and i can say this one of the best one ,picture quality is top notch it's played everything i've thrown at it full 4k uhd iso blu-ray ,mkv. im not bothered about 3d so can't comment on that ,egreat has said it will receive the android 7 update ,so will wait for them like the rest of the media player market ,i think there is only himedia who have implemented it at this moment , there have been some firmware's improvements that have made the movie and tv poster scraping a lot better it helps if your movies and tv series are correctly labeled but overall it does a good job .

Does this happen on blu ray rips or re-encodes? I've never noticed this, could you point to some examples?

Must have improved sharply over the last five months. When I had the A5 the playback was stuttery and network file handling atrocious. My shares would just disappear without rhyme or reason. That experience is often repeated by other users.

How close do you sit to the screen? I'm about 6 feet away.
I have decided to sell mine and brought a Himeida Q10 Pro, have 4K3D version of that and no pixel (shadow image issue) at all
After speaking to some geeks, they mentioned that it could the processor layout, media player processing to the av receiver which is also processing and of course the TV does too.
So I set about removing the process abilities.
Set the AV receiver to normal (VSX930) no up scaling and then messed around with the HDR Display settings on the player.
Picture improved slightly but still decided by then to sell it by then.
Egreat need to really push through the A7 update which the Himedia has now.
      Greatly improved the picture.

Would be better off buying a shield and the £100 towards some NAS or USB storage.

      Hi all,

Android 7 FW is under test and no availability date.

version 3.0 of POSTER (more customization options) should be available in June / July.

      See you

you may have problems with the DTS HD HRA depending on your equipment (model / brand of your receiver).

stuttering with 3D movies is discreet but it exists, it seems to me (if I'm not mistaken) that on my old Himedia 4k 3D V100 I did not have this problem contrary to the current hisilicone V200

there are often problems with the paths and the SMB in my case.

      Hi Chaz,

Would you kindly share the source for this ?
I was assuming N-Shield will probably get DV support sometime in the future (a very good candidate).

      Thanks
