Hi all, I am new to this part of the forums!

I currently have Pinnacle Studio 9 SE, which I find quite unstable!

I would like some advice about what would be the best software to use to capture/edit material from a digital MiniDV video cam!

Please advise which software and approx. price!!

    Many thanks
    Geoff

Well, if you've XP, you've already got a free program in Movie Maker - Just make sure you've got the latest version (v 2 - available as a free download or part of SP2) which is far better than the one that originally shipped with XP.

There are many other programs that you can buy, but the 2 that appear to be the most popular are ULead Video Studio and Sony Vegas Movie Studio.

Trials are available for download here:-

I personally prefer Vegas. Although I am using the 'Professional' version I did try the consumer version and found it to be very easy to use and very stable.

Price-wise, you can download the full version of ULead Video Studio for £36, or buy the boxed version for £40:-

Sony Vegas Movie Studio costs $100 from here:-

this works out to about £55. Doing a search on the web, you will find some UK retailers selling this (for some reason Sony UK don't even mention the product!).

    Hope this helps.
