wow, could be good any thoughts?
I just posted on the poll thread at 6:54 also lol. You must've been watching the news too.
Eddie's one and only line of dialogue in the film 'The Avengers' seems pertinent here.
(It was "Oh f***").

I suppose it pleases those people who were asking for a woman to play Dr Who. Maybe he'll alternate between sexes
Tragic. Should've been Bill Nighey....
Is this official?
Personally, I think this is a great choice. He's a good actor, and I think he's got the right look too.
I think he'll be good a playing a quirky oddball character if that is how they write the new doctor, and his dress sense should make him colourful - but isn't he a bit podgey ? He'll soon be out of breath trying to run from those cybermen.
Just fo clarifications sake - the BBC have today dismissed Tom Baker's comments as pure speculation and said that no decision has yet been made on who will get the role.

I personally thought Paul McGann played an excellent Dr Who and unlike everyone else (it seems! ) I thought the American produced film was great.
I thoroughly enjoyed the new style and look of Dr Who, but I guess everyone else can't be wrong and I'm on my own on that one.
I am sure most people would say that Paul McGann played him quite well though and I'm sure he would continue to be a good Dr Who character.
Incidently, does anyone know the where I can get hold of that movie on DVD for the cheapest price?
How about £10.99 in the HMV sale?
only watched this the first time it was on, but i remember liking the interior tardis design a lot - reminded me of something between the original 'time machine' film, and the Docs lab in BTTF.
Very atmospheric indeed.
Just so you know the UK 12 cert version is cut. Several scenes including the master breaking a neck where trimmed for the UK release and, as far as I can tell, there is no region 1 version ... bummer !
Yeah, he was good. Suitably alien.
The Doctor is half human?!
If Eddie is the new Doctor then his assistant will have to be that Israli Eurovision winner.
He/she would say 'Doctor - you've done it ! You've killed all those deadly but gorgeous Cybermen yet again!'
To which Eddie would reply
'Yes. Mais!!! Le singe est dans l'arbre.'
No more ludicrous than having Ken Dodd in it.
I heard this on the radio, but apparently Tom baker didnt actually say Eddie Izzard, He mentioned the name Eddie. I havent actually heard or seen the interview so I dont know how true it is, I just heard it on the entertainment news on radio 1.
Did anyone actually see/hear Tom baker say it?
Maybe he meant Eddie Kidd was going to be the new Davros ? Sorry I seem to have bypassed my bad taste chip.
The writer is going to be Russell T Davis, the guy who done queer as folk. He said this morning that they have still not picked one
BBC website mentioned Buffy's Anthony Stewart Head as a frontrunner, also mentioned in a separate story that a screaming female sidekick is no longer acceptable, Dr. 's next assistant will be inspired by a Buffy type role model.
Do the words politically correct garbage ring a bell ?
Separate names with a comma.
